Probably NO explosion
Fire quickly put out. Time needed was similar to putting out fire in ICE vehicle.
Fire probably not from main battery pack
Police believe excessive speed was at least one factor in accident.

With laminated glass, there is a plastic sheet bonded between two glass layers. You can crack the glass with a steel ball (as demonstrated in the 2019 Cybertruck unveiling) or other heavy weight, but the glass will still stick to the plastic sheet. You can't get through the window unless you actually make a large hole in the internal plastic sheet with a saw or cutter.

I wonder if a release mechanism should be part safety mechanisms for windows. So that they "drop" out of the way after a crash.

You can bet there have been dozens of studies and proposals on this and statistical reasons they do it one way or the other.

Supposedly the windows drop when the Tesla are in water.

As the father of twin sons, I can’t imagine the devastation that the parents are feeling from this tragic accident. My heartfelt prayers are with them as they deal with this unspeakable tragedy.

That being said, unfortunately, all the Tesla Haters will blame it on Tesla and/or EVs rather than blame the parents for allowing four teenagers to drive something as big and powerful as a Cybertruck at 3:00am while speeding, according to initial police reports. The toxicology report from the survivor might give some clues about whether drugs and alcohol were involved.

Our family mantra was that nothing good happens after midnight, especially when it involves teenagers. Parents hug your kids!

there is no way speed wasn't involved. Battery did not burn. Just regular car fire stuff. Truck was wedged between concrete wall and tree. That much damage NO rig is opening up. Gas would have likely exploded. either way bad accident. No way cybertruck issue here.

Tesla has settings for "Parental Mode" now, so there aren't any excuses.

Another option: the Rhyno windshield cutter, a battery-powered handheld tool for windshields, should also work on laminated glass windows generally. Unfortunately it starts at $725. Marketed to first responders, not consumers.

If you allow a teenager to drive your VERY high performance Tesla (which might not be a good idea); enabling Valet mode might be a good idea? Not sure exactly what all valet mode does but I believe it does the following:

Limits the top speed allowed and may also limit it to five over what the vehicle believes is the posted speed limit. Limits acceleration.

The display only shows the current vehicle speed, IE.. All center screen functions are disabled so nothing to screw with while driving.

Probably modifies other functions? Please correct my statements above and/or add additional Valet functionality.
