Counterpoint: I go 100% before every road trip.tip: I would charge up to 75-80% when you stop for the night and plug in if you have level 2 charging, then schedule charge up to 90 (or 95%) for when you plan to leave in the morning. You don't want your battery to sit full for long at all. Not good for it. I generally recommend to never charge to 100% unless you absolutely need it.
Unless it's mid summer in a hot area, setting it to 100% overnight isn't going to cause significant degradation, especially if won't reach that until near departure anyway.
