Have any of you run into issues where your truck won’t stay connected to your WiFi? My truck will consistently drop off my network (while not in sleep mode). I then have to reboot it. Once that happens, it reconnects. But when I leave and come back home it does not reconnect. I have a service appointment setup, but thought it might be good to see if any of you are seeing similar issues.

I would guess there's some issue with the network portion of the computer. Unless you have a very weak signal or your network itself is cycling on/off or low power, more likely an issue with the vehicle. Can you go to a super charger that has wifi, or another persons house, and see if the issue is repeatable?

My CT does not have this problem but I have another Tesla that does. Let us know how they fixed it.

I know it's not a weak signal on my end because I have an access point in the garage that is hard wired and the CT connects to it once I actually reboot it. I have also seen where my router shows that the CT is connected but on the CT's display it says it isn't connected.

BTW - It does connect to WiFi at Superchargers.

Here to help.

When connected to your home Wi-Fi,
1) tap on the car icon - lower left, then "Wi-Fi" (in the settings menu),
2) tap on your Wi-Fi SSID - SSID being the Wi-Fi name, you should see "Remain Connected in Drive".
3) Make sure there is a check mark beside the "Remain Connected in Drive"

I understand you're not driving the vehicle perse, however when the vehicle is in any other mode other than Park, it will drop Wi-Fi. In your situation, when you come back home, it normally takes a while for the vehicle to connect to Wi-Fi - especially since you stated you also have a weak signal. Additionally, this will help the vehicle immediately try to pick up the signal as soon as you drive within Wi-Fi range.

With this setting enabled, this should resolve your problem.

Please try this and post your findings.

Cheers,

The Wi-Fi at the Superchargers is "hard coded" by Tesla to automatically connect once entering the Wi-Fi zone - it's the same thing with "Tesla Service", it connects your car to Wi-Fi when at the Service Center.

Thanks for your willingness to help. It's much appreciated.

I've actually tried those same troubleshooting steps before. I even went as far as turning off the 5GHz band on my network in hopes of forcing the CT to connect to the 2.4GHz band. However, that was unsuccessful. Sorry if I misspoke, but my signal in the garage is strong since I have a hard wired access point in there that the CT connects to - when it actually connects. I've had a M3 and MY and never had this issue with them. So strange.

Thank you for letting me know. Which software version are you on?

It seems you're quite knowledgeable when it comes to networks, so I won't dumb it down.
Have you tested your Wi-Fi band as well?

2.4Ghz: 1 , 6, 11
Width: 20, if it's on 20, then switch to 40 or 20/40
5Ghz: 149, 157, 161
Width: 80

Oh! Also make sure the SSID is using WPA2 or WPA3 for password protection, this might help as well. Don't use WPA or "WPA/WPA2".

As you mentioned, this very well could be a software issue. As it stands, Cybertruck is very sensitive when it comes to Wi-Fi. At times, I have to put my phone's Wi-Fi in "maximize compatibility" mode just for the vehicle to connect, so I can imagine the frustration you're feeling when its being wonky with your own home network.

Were you able to recreate the issue while at the super charger? If not, then that leans toward whatever is at your home that might be the culprit. Since you said a previous Y or 3 worked fine, that again points to the truck itself. I’d pursue that before changing a lot of your global Wi-Fi settings as that might bring more insult to injury. What about a hotspot on a phone?

I have the same issue. I took it in and they reinstalled firmware and then it worked, but I think that’s exactly like restarting the computer which gets it to connect but wait awhile and poof no connection.

Cheers,
I'm having the same issue as the original poster. I tried your suggestion, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me. My problem happens even when the car is just parked at home. The only fix seems to be a reboot. I see the WiFi symbol next to the SSID, but there's no green checkmark, and when I try to connect, I get an error saying it c

If I manage to force a connection to WiFi somewhere else by rebooting the car, it will switch to LTE once I drive away, and usually connects back to WiFi when I get home. However, by the next day, the WiFi connectivity issue returns.

Interestingly, I've never experienced this with my Model X, which is parked right next to this car.

Any other ideas or fixes you can suggest would be greatly appreciated!

I had WiFi problems early on because of a conflict with my sprinkler system a few feeders away. I set up a separate guest network for the beast & never had problems again.

i have had the opposite problem, it hates letting go of WiFi which means when i drive away from home streaming radio and other connectivity-related features often do not work. it would previously indicate it was connected to my home wifi when miles away. the ‘disconnect when in drive’ option helps, but feels like a workaround. no issues with Model S or Y.

I’ve had the same issue too. Cybertruck is my 4th tesla. My other 3 have never had issues with the WiFi. I currently just have a model Y and cybertruck.
I have to reboot the truck and then it connects and will randomly disconnect after a few days and won’t be able to connect again until another reboot. Sometimes it lasts for a week.
