Didn’t get a motor replaced until the 4th visit. Replacement motor (another rev F) also made noise, so I just opted for a buy-back.

Keep reopening service tickets. If you still don’t get traction, try another service center. If that still doesn’t work, consider a legal buy-back. That noise is not normal.

‘I pretend it’s a supercharger whine.

Edit: heres a quick video I made and shared with tesla in my previous service requests

Long time lurker first time caller. Love my 24 foundation, love the lifetime supercharging! FSD has me hooked on teslas! Just cant seem to get this issue taken seriously by my service center. Its like a gear failing to make proper connection or something. A grind/whine? Kinda like an old dial up computer connection almost. Semi faint but loud enough to hear even when i have my music on.

A senior and normal service tech have come with me on ride alongs where the noise was clearly present. Seems to kick in just after it hits 33-34mph. In one of these service visits the senior tech took me on a drive to see if one of their own trucks produced this same noise. It did not. Night and day difference. For some reason that same senior tech recorded my service notes as having been “normal” and ‘within spec’ essentially. Im just confused why they would do that? Clearly the noise wasnt present in their own truck he took me on. There was no question about that, he had verbally acknowledged the difference with me, but the notes said otherwise

Worth noting my truck has just under 5,000 miles, purchased new towards end of 2025. For the most part ive been happy with my tesla service appointments since they always seem to do their best to address my concerns so when I first called this out back in February I didnt mind putting it off for a future visit. While that was at a different service center I didnt think it would matter which location i went to.

Has anyone here experienced a similar issue on these awd fs? Its coming from the front motor, which they have acknowledged. They just tell me in the past they have not had success getting rid of the noise by replacing the front motor.
I had to go to 3 different service centers and 5 visits total before I actually had a tech willing to help. The other 2 were saying the vibration and noise were within spec. Finally the 3rd heard the noise and was willing to replace the fdu. And it fixed the issue.

Not normal and it doesn't sound like the superchargers in my cars. 😁 To me, it's a metallic, grinding noise like a bearing has gone bad.

If you dont Mind, think you can share the service visit for when they finally did fix it for you? Thinking that may help me get this resolved.

Probably the Front Drive Unit. Our 24 AWD FS has a whining sound at 40mph. We took it in, drove tech around, he could hear it. They ended up up replacing the entire FDU, which took that away. No charge ax it was warranty.

It seemed to work on ours, but have not driven newer models to hear sounds. Talk to another Tech if possible about the front drive unit. In fact, if you search this forum, there should be posts on it as a few had to have it replaced.

My 25 AWD had front drive motor noise too. I took it in several times to different service centers and rode with techs and service center managers. They all acknowledged the noise and said that it was the FDU, but replacing may not resolve it so they couldn’t do it and also said the noise was within specs. We drove other CTs together that did not make the same noise and they still said it wasn’t an issue that would cause problems so they didn’t do anything.

I traded that on a 26 CB and it is dead quiet. So they definitely figured something out in the interim.

Of course it was the Service Center in Clermont Fl. They have always been great from my experiences.

Mine is even louder (there's a thread somewhere). Tesla said it's normal on CTs and let me drive another that made a similar noise, but not quite as loud as mine. They wouldn't fix it.

Heres a video I took on a demo drive of a non foundation awd. Notice how the grinding isnt present. This is how quiet the test drive was when I went with a senior tech.

Here is a screenshot. Repair Done in Oct 2024 at Salem, OR. Took about two weeks for repair, diagnosis and shipping of new FDU
