Well, not a great update so far. Today's the day it was supposed to be repaired (again). I messaged the service center early this morning to confirm if I should make the long round trip drive up. I got a reply back pretty quickly asking us to wait until they call which they estimated to be around 1pm. It's now 3:30pm with no phone call to us made. The truck doesn't appear to have moved inside for repairs (location still shows it is outside in the parking lot).

Got a call just now (4:45) with an update. They apparently have been waiting on the *tool* to arrive which is needed to replace the defective part. Not sure why they had us drop the truck off without the tools to repair said part weeks ago, but at least now they can repair it. Except the service center closes shortly, so tomorrow will hopefully be the day we can finally pick it up again. Huzzah!

Whelp, they didn't get it fixed. Again, waiting on parts. This time Monday is supposed to be the day. The only thing they checked off the list today was "Check tire pressure and condition" and "Steering wheel shakes at highway speeds". Took them 3 weeks to check those off the list. It looks like the glove box noise issue is the latest one waiting on parts now, though after talking to them on the phone today, it sounds like they are having problems replicating the error alert about the air suspension issue. It wasn't clear if they've even tried to replicate any of these issues until just today, more than 3 weeks after I left the truck in their hands, and more than 70 days after first reporting the issue.

Sigh....

Not really a lemon issue. They haven't actually fixed a thing yet. The service center is just... bad.

That said, I love the truck too much to do anything like that. I'll just try to use a different service center in the future should anything else arise.
Unfortunately there are many, including me, that love the truck too much that we justify these experiences.

If it makes you feel better you got to drive it more than half of your ownership! Look at @Lamar MK on Twitter/X. Diehard Tesla fan, got CT 2 months ago, visited service center 3 times, and was only able to drive the car a total of 2 weeks. Understably upset and questioned that his may be a "lemon", but today he is the happiest person on X since he got his car back.

Hoping I don't have a similar experience with mine. Opened a service request fory wiper not working, and the service request hasn't moved in 5 days. Still at the initial review phase.
If it's a motor issue, they are probably waiting on the replacement part before letting you schedule. Good news is that it's a fairly quick same day repair. Mine got fixed much quicker than the "6 hours" they quoted me.

I also noticed a steering wheel vibration above 60 mph and when I brought it in they thought it was normal and I insisted that it wasn’t and they took it out again and decided it wasn’t normal, sent it up the ladder to engineering, and then replaced the drive unit all in about a week. They actually were a bit too fast for my taste because I wasn’t available to pick it up the day they said it would be done and I know their parking is limited.

Hard to say what is going on with your truck but my experiences at two different service centers in two different states with different issues have been pretty positive.

Not thrilled that the drive unit was replaced after about 1k miles though. This sort of fault doesn’t instill a lot of confidence for a “rugged” vehicle going into remote places. I’ve put enough miles on my Rivians that I wouldn’t worry too much about them failing on me, but the CT definitely needs a few levels of backup.

The lemon clock still runs out, even if they don't attempt to fix it, in most lemon laws.

If more people exercise their lemon laws, Tesla will prioritize repairs. Considering we can’t sell for a year, this strategy is fair.

The thing is, if I exercised my rights through my state's lemon law, I'd be at best, weeks from now, getting my money back. And walking away with no truck. The truck is worth the hassles I'm having with the service center. Things wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the delays instilled on by the service center.

Well, it's the end of the day and no word from the service center. The truck is where it was left on Friday, meaning it hasn't moved inside for repairs. My guess is the part was delayed, or arrived but they didn't have a technician to work on it. Hard to tell as the service center is not great at this communication thing. Repair date still shows as today, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

We got the truck back today! The app updated to showing a completion date of Friday, so getting it on Thursday was a plus.

Items fixed:

- Error message saying air suspension unavailable - ended up needing a part replaced (I don't recall the name of the part as it was a phone call and I didn't write it down)

- Wheels balanced again to combat the vibration issues at high speeds

- Glove box rattling - replaced entire glove box

- Replaced the door strap and joint bolts

- Accelerator pedal 'recall' repair

- Door striker fasteners adjusted

Upon driving the truck home, it still vibrates at high speed to the point where it feels like the wheels are going to fall off. But weirdly, it comes and goes. I set cruise control to 73 and drove on a very long stretch of level, smooth road. And about every mile or two, the wobbling/vibrating would slowly get worse until it was jarring and almost nausea inducing, then would slowly get better until it went away for a mile or two. Rinse and repeat.

I'll dig around and see if others are having a similar issue. I now suspect it's not a wheel balancing issue based on that behavior, but perhaps a software issue with the air suspension behaving oddly.

Vibrations should be consistent to speed for balance...

Perhaps something's wrong with the steering? If steering is slightly off, or the camber or the wheels is being pushed off, that could happen.

That's a really weird problem. I haven't read any other threads mentioning that.

For anyone following along, the service center had us close out our February ticket when I contacted them to say the issue of vibration still exists. They asked me to open a new one which I did. That appointment is scheduled for July 11th. I kindly asked them on 05/20 that they review and bump this up to something more reasonable. They said they'd try. We'll see!

July 11th?

Absolutely insane wait time. Crazy they would lay people off in the service centers when they were already backed up, claiming they need to save money - while Elon is asking for almost $60B more to do his job.

I've got a Beast coming in the next few days and I'm starting to think I'm gambling here, that's ridiculous

I was having a tit-for-tat with a Corvette on the toll road… I didn’t think I used that much throttle but I glanced at the speedo and “105…? Shit! lol”. It was smooth as glass, I couldn’t even tell I was at such a speed.

Vibration is not normal. Given the variable symptoms, I’m inclined to blame the steering. It’s like there’s slightly conflicting data from different position sensors, and it’s trying to average them out.

If the wheels were unbalanced or steering/suspension parts loose or damaged, the effect would more consistent.

I’m not sure how to diagnose this, but the “black box” should have detailed telemetry data. You can read this data, but only by being an authorized Tesla tech with the $$$ equipment, assuming you could even make any sense of it.

Im sure there’s someone at Tesla that could perform such an analysis, but IDK how you get your issue escalated to “that guy”.
