Absolutely HATE myQ personally. The simple learning remote feature in our model X (home link) is far superior. No retrofit for the cybertruck yet right?

I set mine up to auto open but only close when I tell it to. It works similar to home link where the “close” button will appear when the truck is near the garage door.

The MyQ integration is intended to open your garage door when you arrive and close it when you leave. This time it did something different, shortly after opening my garage door, it closed again and damaged my vehicle and garage door. It started to close after the door was not visible from the rear view mirror.

The glass roof is shattered and the garage door has damage as well.

This happened to my Model Y, but it could have easily happened in the Cybertruck as well.

Has anyone had this happen, who do you think bares the responsibility here? MyQ, Tesla, or me? I'm pretty sure I know what the lawyers would say.

UPDATE 5/16/2025: With the details I provided, including the video of the events. Liftmaster/Chamberlain accepted my claim and is going to pay for the roof glass replacement on my Model Y. They took a while to investigate, including looking at event logs. I am thankful to put this issue to rest.
MyQ is the worst company ever. The homelab community has boycotted them for a while now. I’ll never use their garbage products.

This is one of the two most baffling omissions from the CT:

1. No matrix headlights
2. No HomeLink

The fact that both of these are available in all other S3XY vehicles is truly stupefying. Home link still comes standard in the model S&X and is available for installation in 3&Y. that it isn’t available standard in the CT is freaking weird, that I can’t upgrade it like I could one of their base vehicles is insane!

HL is the gold standard! Even if MyQ worked flawlessly on garage doors at home (IT DOESN’T); it’s not available for gates, such as that engaged communities or my private garage at the office, so, I’m hobbled out of the gate!

WTF Tesla!?

*I love how the last time we had this discussion the sycophants (as usual) poo poo’d these complaints, suggesting that all we had to do was just use our regular clickers. ?

I guess they’re correct I certainly could clip a clicker to my sunshade and be at the forefront of 1955 technology. But what if I didn’t have to? You know, just as if I was as well-healed as everybody who recently bought a $30,000 Mazda CX-5 which comes fucking standard with Homelink! ?

LiftMaster is responsible for this. Apparently they understood that and reimbursed you for the damage.

I use the free MyQ app because I don't want the app opening and closing my door automatically for security reasons. Additionally, I think it would be impractical because I think the door would be open if I park in front of the garage and I may not want it open.

I love the free app because I can open and close the garage door manually from anywhere by pressing the button in the app and I can see at a glance if my door is open or closed.

If you want to use the paid MyQ app to open and close the door automatically it is probably a good idea to purchase the infinity Shield garage door sensor which I believe would have prevented that

It looks like they've confirmed that the cybertruck does have the necessary hardware for matrix headlights, it just hasn't been activated yet.

https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-cyb...ion solidified that the,the new Model Y first.
Tesla Cybertruck Warning: Do not trust MyQ IMG_5140

Unfortunately, for us, it’s been activated on all the cars that have it— which goes all the way back to my 2021 MP3 [which I believe was the first in the US to come with it]. So, while our S&X are sitting pretty, no love for the CT on this front.

Noooooooo!

Well I have it on our Model Y. It actually reduces visibility when driving, so the only benefit is to people driving towards you. Screw the people driving towards us. I want to see the opossum 0.4 seconds before I run it over instead of 0.3.

But 0.3 is better than 0.4 no? Another 0.1 seconds to play dead

Seriously though. Have been paying close attention to the model x lights since the update and the difference to me is subtle (dons flame protective suit).
I protect other drivers when I drive with brights on in a very dark area, mostly because I’m not an asshole, but I don’t think it’s awful to drive into those two little headlights.
I see it all the time when I’m pulling in driving the model x and my wife is pulling out with the truck.

Now…if someone could just figure out how to wire the lightbar into the brights switch so you can make it look like a UFO landing at the touch of a button., that’s worth discussing.

Sucks that the OP had this happen. Glad it is getting resolved. I agree it is silly that MyQ cost us money to be able to use with the rides. I enjoy the MyQ in the Cybertruck over the HomeLink in the Model X, it understands the state of the garage door. For example when the Cybertruck pulls up if the garage door is already open it doesn’t trigger the door, closing it. The Model X HomeLink sensor is on the front bumper, when we are leaving the driveway with the garage behind it it often doesn’t trigger the garage door. We have to back up to get closer to garage so it will trigger. We never have issues with the Cybertruck. I also like that the MyQ on the Cybertruck gives you live feedback about the state of the garage door, ex closing, open, closed, opening

That’s a fair point and a real advantage. I just hate the delays and non-reliability and subscription model too much I guess

Lars retracted this statement a week or so later. He said he was only referring to auto brights and that they didn’t have room to squeeze matrix lights in.
