Whats the point of having a lower price when they wont be able to deliver the car for years based on demand. They will match or be slightly above the current market segments. Remember Tesla is never the cheapest in the respective segment, they strive to be the best for the money... not the cheapest.
So, in short, the master plan is:
  1. Build sports car
  2. Use that money to build an affordable car
  3. Use that money to build an even more affordable car
  4. While doing above, also provide zero emission electric power generation options

If I cant order one for under 60K by the time I NEED a new vehicle I'm out. I don't even know if my reservation will matter at that point (3-4 years). Maybe I'll be looking into one of those new platform high volume low cost models 🤷‍♂️

Model S would be the closest model to look at(similar range and acceleration etc.). Sold 176K in 2022, the profit margin is about 15%, prices range from $85K-100K. Say Tesla makes 250K CT in a year, at a ramp-up of 0% profit margin, how likely do you think they would price CT under $85K? One important factor to consider here is the macro economical weather from Q4 2023 to Q4 2024. The plan for us, consumers, here is quite clear. Set aside a reasonable $ for CT, when shit storm hasn't hit us yet. And either buy the dip or buy CT later when the time comes.

Thinking about that, If they price it high, a lot of reservation holder are going to cancel, so the queue wont be long t'ill there's no more reservation holder, so tesla will lower the price lol

I can’t see them pricing the top trim CT with better range/specs for cheaper than the base X, … I desperately hope I’m wrong.

It was cheaper than the base price Model X when announced in 2019.

Why would that change?

I reserved a Tri-Motor, 500 mile range version. I kinda of expected paying $79,000+
But that was in 2019. We have had massive inflation since then.
Please define 'massive' and compare it to the inflation that was predicted (3% per year) and come back with this massiveness.

Higher than anything since the 80s? Sure. Massive? No.

Also, they weren't planning on delivering until the end of 2021. So there needed to be at least two years of inflation in their calculated numbers.

If Tesla is looking to sell 250k CT per year.... vs. 100k S/X.... this should tell you that the truck will not be 3/Y prices...but closer to S/X.
No, it shouldn't. Because your numbers are wrong, and also... To sell more cars, you need a lower price.

First off, they sold ~66k S and X in 2022. Not 100K.

More specifically, Tesla sold under 250K Model 3 in North America in 2022. Tesla wants to sell 250k Cybertruck in North America.

I'm glad you enjoy your ride. Personally, I like rowing through the gears.
Trust me, my Zero has taught me gears are over-rated.

What are you talking about?

We will all know what Tesla decides to sell the Cybertruck for - initial version - sometime this fall.

If anyone still believes in the Easter Bunny....and a $60,000 CyberTruck....they need to move out of their parents basement.

PS Inflation was 7% in 2021 alone. That is a huge figure.

Because unlike everyone else, Tesla has never messed with the price of vehicles people are on a waiting list for. They only change the prices for people who aren't on the list.

And setting the first impression that the Cybertruck is an unaffordable toy would leave it stuck at that price point for the foreseeable future. Not only would people expect it to be priced high, investors would hate for them to lower their margins.

If you want to know what I'm talking about, you'll need to be more specific about what you're quoting.

If you think 7% is huge, you have a very warped view of what inflation can be. Go look at historical inflation rates. In the 1920s. The 1970s. The 1980s.

Besides that, Tesla should have planned for inflation of half that amount anyhow.

I buy A LOT of business supplies annually.
a lot a lot.
2021 was certainly over 7% inflation for every category I care about. Its in the 17% range for me since the super cold kicked off.

some dork with some chart from a data set is going to disagree with me but they don’t pay the bills.

Insurance increases in particular feel as though theyve gone into a 4G climb.
We have a lot of traveling crews. Hotels are stupid high. Restaurants including fast food are as well.

point is the concept of inflation is not some hard, fast and reliable model that is guaranteed to predict the future and quite frankly, reporting on the recent past is dubious as well

I disagree.... completely. I remember the plaid being 119k and plaid plus for 140k.... literally days before it launched they canceled plaid plus and added another 10k to the plaid. Look at the cost of the plaid now.....

Huh, it's kinda like the Model S Plaid was never suggested to have Model Y-like prices.

What changed?

They had no idea what it would take to manufacture it. Elon has said this numerous times over the years.

They also had plans for the 4680 to have this great energy density. They haven't come close to it in the MY AWD and Elon doesn't know when they will.

100% the prices are higher than in 2019. Elon said it in plain English last year.

How high? No one knows, but if Elon really introduces a 4 motor Plaid version with rear wheel steering, it will 100% be more expensive as no one of that was promised at first and then they can say, "we didn't raise prices".

They HAVE to come out with a cost effective version as well. It's essential or it will be like the S/X.

I think they will.

The math is easy for Tesla.

They'll hit the charts to determine which version they can sell every single one of, at their fastest build rate, and highest margin throughout 2024.

That's what will drive the price. The ramp causes low volume so the money made has to be maximized.
