Maybe they edited the article a little. But the way I read it it's amazing that anyone survived. So I don't see how that hurts Tesla.

It's a public-service announcement on the dangers of California. It's much safer in flat places like Texas

Yeah Texas, don't worry about the tornadoes. Just fluffy dust swirls.

Or the storms with baseball size hail or both tornado and baseball size hail, Yipee.

Austin/San Antonio area where Tesla Giga-factory has gotten tornadoes before.

Going to need the stainless steel and armor glass Cybertruck for all the hail.

More tornadoes touching the ground have been recorded in Texas than in any other state, with 8,007 between 1951 and 2011 (approx 60 years).

A list of the top 10 worst tornadoes in Texas history
https://www.weather.gov/ama/top10_tornadoes

NUMBER ONE - THE WACO TORNADO - MAY 11, 1953
The deadliest tornado in Texas history killing 114 persons and injuring 597.

NUMBER TWO - THE GOLIAD TORNADO - MAY 18, 1902
The second deadliest tornado in Texas killed 114 persons, the same as Waco, but is rated number two since with 250 injuries,

NUMBER FIVE - THE WICHITA FALLS TORNADO - APRIL 10, 1979
It killed 42 people in Wichita Falls, 25 of those deaths were vehicle related. It caused over 1700 injuries, destroyed over 3000 homes and left 20,000 homeless.

NUMBER NINE - THE SARAGOSA (Reeves County) TORNADO - MAY 22, 1987
the F4 tornado destroyed more than 80% of the town, killed 30 residents and injured 121.

TORNADO NUMBER TEN - THE JARRELL TORNADO - MAY 27, 1997
The Jarrell tornado is the last confirmed F5 tornado in the state of Texas. This tornado followed an unusual path, moving to the south-southwest and has revived studies on the role of gravity waves on thunderstorm initiation. This storm killed 27 persons (injuring 12 more) and hundreds of cattle. More than 40 homes were completely destroyed, some of which were completely removed from their foundations.

.....
More than 9,500 tornadoes were reported in Texas between 1950 and 2021, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

.....
The most tornadoes reported in a single year was 258 in 2015, including the largest outbreak in Central Texas history. Over three days a total of 16 tornadoes touched down in the area over Memorial Day weekend, the strongest being an EF-2 twister in Milam County.

.....
The outbreak on March 21, 2022, produced at least 31 tornadoes in Texas, according to local NWS offices. That means the day ranks fourth for most tornadoes reported in a single calendar day. The NWS office in Fort Worth reported 17 tornadoes, Austin/San Antonio reported five, Houston reported five, and Shreveport reported four in its coverage area in Texas.

It’s true that Texas suffers from extreme natural disasters, such as 1/16th inch of snow, but ain’t nobody got anything like the PCH

I just watched a report that the driver has been arrested for attempted murder. The authorities have probable cause that this was intentional. So... This is a feel good story where Tesla engineers are heroic designers of exceptionally safe cars.

I grew up running across it as a kid in the 70s. The northern part in Lincoln city and Newport. A different stretch but just a magnificent.

I don’t know, I’ve driven the PCH from LA to the very north most corner of California.

I have to say the Oregon Coast is probably better per square mile, but perhaps not as good overall. I’ll have to take some time when I get my Cybertruck and compare them.

Three words: “San Andreas Fault”
We mostly know where “San Andreas Fault” is located and those who want to avoid it can.

Tornados, hurricanes, hail storms, flooding, wildfires occur all over central, eastern, northern & southern Texas.

All I am saying is Texas is far from the safest U.S. state from natural disasters.
Texas, just like California, has many occurrences of natural disasters.

As far as climate type disasters, Texas is one of the worst.

How many natural disasters happen in Texas?
Flooding, wildfires, tornados, hurricanes, hail storms, sinkholes, erosion and drought all occur in the state. Sometimes, even utilization of the state's natural reserves of oil, gas, and water can lead to subsidence and earthquakes. At least one major disaster event is declared every year in the state of Texas.

What is the safest state to avoid natural disasters?
Michigan has been the state with the least natural disasters since 1953 as it's located in the midwest and receives natural protection from the Great Lakes. As a result, Michigan is generally safe from major natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes.

The state with the most natural disasters is California. Since 1980, California has experienced 284 federally declared disasters. Other disaster-prone states include Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, Florida, and New York.

Testa drives off a cliff
The children were probably saved by the child seats
It was a miracle everyone survived

That was the crux of the story I read.

Anyone else, the headline would have been:

Tesla's 5 star safety rating proved to be a life saver for a family of 4 who luckily survived a 250 metre fall off a cliff.

People drive off that cliff all the time (and about half survive), but...

...you pretty much have to do it intentionally or have many things go wrong. It takes more than one 'pilot error' to go over the cliff, ut a complex sequence of violating signs, leaving the road, etc.

The MSM should not even be focusing on the brand of car at all for such an accident, unless they intended to somehow propagate negative association as they're constantly trying to do to Tesla right now. This unnecessary brand focus suggests that the MSM is really not concerned about the people in the accident at all and are actually treating them as a secondary 'element' to the story.
This example may tend to highlight the fact that Tesla's are less prone to fires in high impact crashes - which is the kind of fact the MSM wants to ignore right now.
There is also the result of how well the Tesla protected the occupants in such a crash, which seems to be also something the MSM would not want to touch either. Now, I could be wrong and maybe this report is one where they were showing how safe Tesla's are to be in, but I seriously doubt that at this point.
The MSM has thrown integrity out the window so much, that I've not even glanced at anything from them in recent years so of course I didn't look at this particular report either.
Not sure why you think the media hates Tesla, and would only publish articles against Tesla. The problem with the media is that it works in a capitalist system. They need to get people to read their articles to make money. So they are encouraged to write articles people want to click on. I think any article that includes "Tesla" good or bad, will create clicks. Bad articles might generate more clicks than good ones because humans are strange that way, but I think an article titled "Tesla saves lives of 4 people" would still get more clicks than "Car falls off cliff, everyone survived"

I would argue your bias against the media is worse than the perceived bias you convey the media has. If I followed your example of not listening to them because they aren't saying what I want them to say, I would ignore you. But I won't because I welcome information from all angles.

I suggest you listen to the media, and just keep in mind one of their main goals is to make money. And use that info. when you base your own opinion.
