So new CB...

Local CO Installer - New Image - has done 25 CT's.

My criteria is heat protection, front / rear match, be legal in CO, not too dark at night time.

Doing Ceramic on all windows. They recommended Front Windshield 70%, Front Sides 20%, Rear Sides/Back 50%.

What did you do on yours? Are you happy with it?

I went:

- 70% on the windshield and all rear glass (I didn't want the rears any darker, just wanted to increase the heat rejection)
- 35% front doors/triangles
- No tint on roof

All done with Xpel Prime XR Plus

Super happy with the results, particularly the windshield. The amount of heat pouring through that giant piece of glass is incredible, haha!! The 70% really helps with that.

I did the same on mine.

My tint installer is redoing the windshield for the 3rd time from the original install. I kept seeing air bubbles even after extensive curing times in the Texas heat.

I just did 25% ceramic on the fronts and triangles, left the backs alone (25%) and then did a 15% strip along the top of the windshield (about an inch above the As1 and inline with the camera opening). I am happy with it and it only set me back $300. It all matches pretty good and it’s noticeably cooler.

I went with 25% ceramic on the fronts and triangles as well, it's a perfect match for the 25% factory on the rears, cost $150.

My installer, who I've used for over 15 years across three different cars, told me that he didn't feel comfortable doing the windshield, it's apparently a bit of a nightmare to work with a sheet that big and with the angles involved.

Anyone near Lawrenceville, GA got a recommendation for someone who can handle the windshield? I'd love to get Llumar Air80 on it for heat rejection.

My installer told me up front that there would, most likely, be some dust/small bubbles somewhere on that huge piece of film. It's just hard to work with. The angle/depth of the windshield/dash and the Alcantara trim next to the windshield (which can contribute dust) make for a tough install.

I told him as long as they weren't in my line of sight, I didn't care. The windshield gets dirty from daily driving so I wouldn't notice them anyway, haha!!

He did say that if the dust/bubbles bothered me, he'd redo the work.

I haven't noticed any, and I haven't looked for any either. All I know is the heat rejection is awesome!!

LLumar Ceramic on Front 2 triangles and 2 driver & passenget (30%) , nothing on rear.

Tinter guy told not to take chance with huge windshield with Texas heat, it can crack, he told he has seen Model X breaking in past, the way the heat is distributed after tint absorb the heat. He said its not about labor , labor is hard he agrees but its about breakage, risk and then customer experience. He wont do it no matter how much I pay him.

He was very genuine guy in DFW area, family operated business. Has 5 * rating reviews, charged me 140 $ plus tax. (He told this is 3rd CT he tinted, and other are probably charging 500 $ range since its a CT). I admitted with my other quote comparison. :)

Incase anyone wants to try him in DFW area (Celina TX) .. DM me .. will share the details.

He also gave me Llumar Ceramic life time warranty certificate.

I tinted my new S windows last month. Seems there r 3 products. Cheap to very expensive. I asked if difference in UV rejection? NO.
Only length of time expected to last. I went with cheap. I'm 81, not going to be here that long. Giggles. Sold S last Saturday because CT is arriving soon. Just note on cost.

Here in Chicagoland I got a quote from a local business down the street from me. They quoted me $200 for the sided windows (Drivers and A pillars) and $1200 for the front windshield. :cautious:
Going to keep looking or actually tint it myself. We have done some tint in the past, it's applied similar to vinyl using a lot of wet solution. Just wanted to go to a local company, just don't feel like getting it in the butt with the price I was quoted.

3M Crystalline Ceramic -- 20% front row sides and triangles, 40% back row sides. Limo strip across the top of the windshield. It's just the way I like it. I didn't have the back window tinted because in the somewhat rare instances I have the tonneau cover open I want to be able to view the cargo more easily. Plus the rear window is vertical and doesn't let in any appreciable amount of sunlight anyway.

I went 50% on the front and I love it. I'm going to do it to my S now. No loss of vision even at night, but blocks some sun.
