Tesla Cybertruck Would Cybertruck Look Good with Chrome Wheels / Rims - Scale Preview s-l400

I haven't seen many pics with Chrome rims. It seems like the black rims are the current fad, but I think the non-painted rims have a lot more durability. My only experience with black rims was with winter rims on steel which I had to respray every couple of years.

I don't remember where I stole these from. But, I agree the wheels on the original prototype were one of the few things I really didn't like. I like to play with graphics. A couple of months after the reveal, I made this graphic. Personally, I think they look too pretty.

Not in a million years. Looks cheap &gaudy. Stainless wheels and covers. More durable and look just fine (in my opinion).

I think it makes it look a little less scary and a little more fun.
I would take some polished stainless or polished aluminum over chrome personally. They also need to be of a design that is easy to maintain, clean and polish. Chrome on rims is just way too easy to pit or peal with it so close to the salt and road/rock debris.

I'll bet that Tesla comes up with the right alloy for stainless rims.

"the mere fact that I'm present means that there's plenty badassery to go around." I love that.

I scare people. If my truck is too badass, my wife will never travel with me. Trying to find ways to tone down the truck a little. Blue wheels and a smiley face maybe. :)

I'm pretty sure you have to stop calling it a Cybertruck if you put low profile rims on it. That's pretty borderline if you ask me. Next people are going to be trying out 32" wheels with gold spokes.

In fact any modification which makes the truck less likely to survive the apocalypse should remove the Cybertruck moniker.

Actually having stainless wheels to match the stainless body might be interesting, but not at the expense of the actual utility you get with being a truck. Low profile just turns it into a Ford Flex.

Elon is agnostic. Tesla will address wheels principles first.

Unsprung weight is high on the performance brief above ornamental. I expect like SpaceX grid fins, wheels will functionally be more than an automotive feature. Color may be optional.

Cybertruck launch reveal was telling how Tesla addressed the tire interface by extending sidewall bolster down to rim support. Tesla were working on the whole interface. The plastic-fantasic wheel cover, more than ornamental, was a trial ballon for what direction they intended they had on the drawing boards.

Goodyear went to the expense of making a unique mold just in time for launch so the tire was beyond conceptual. I’d expect CT to have a nice wheel but a fantastic expensive optional wheel as Tesla has done in prior models.

Do I want grid fin wheels? Hell yeah. Just not Titanium. I’ve seen Ti fail.
