too early to tell.

Based purely on build quality and value for the money - I dont now. I'm at a point where I learned to live with the interior rattles. The excuse that "glue is used on many modern vehicles now" is not good enough for me. The other modern vehicles use glue here and there but not as extensively as the CT. I bought this thing with the hopes of it being my car for the next 10 to 20 years or so. I am not confident that I'm going to reach that.

The latest dissapointment was learing that we doint have matrix headlights.

To put it in other words. If enough of the body and the mechanics stay unbroken/attached/functional 15 years from now for me to drive, I'll cosnider it a success.

No.

I needed 500 miles, I didn’t get it. I purchased anyway, knew what I was getting and I’m generally happy with what it is. But I said it before, it really isn’t exactly what I wanted/needed. It cannot replace my FJ. I’m normally uncompromising. This is why.

I knew that once the revealed range wasn’t as promised, that this was a dealbreaker and I should’ve simply backed out of the deal. The range extender was always an unsatisfactory consolation prize (IMO). So, the fact that it’s not coming really doesn’t change anything for me.

All the other stuff (haters, fud, polarizing design) doesn’t concern me. My dream was that I would be able to drive out into the middle of the desert as far as I wanted (take nothing but some food, water and my dogs) look around and at the spur of the moment decide that I wanted to stay overnight (or longer), explore and then come home.

For that, I needed exactly 2 things: (1) a minimum 500 miles of range and (2) a fold-down midgate that would allow me to sleep in the bed of the truck with climate control. One was promised, the other was suggested by an early reservation holder and Elon said “yes. we’ll do it” (midgate), neither was delivered.

I should’ve walked away when that became clear, and it’ll never happen again.

I am in a position where I can: (1) chock it up to experience, keep the truck, and enjoy it for what it is, (2) keep the FJ (and watch it continue to appreciate), and (3) buy myself a Scout or something else that delivers on the exact minimum specifications I require— and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
The FJ is a legend. TBH I doubt EVs will ever beat ICE vehicles for range / survivalism. Ethanol free gasoline lasts for decades and you can bring it with you. The only EV with a solar panel roof is a Prius PHEV.

I would absolutely buy a Cybertruck again. It makes me feel like a superhero. Where I live (pretty much on top of Giga Texas) there are almost zero haters. And for all the “Nazi” shaming there are plenty of PoC driving them here in Austin.

My ONLY regret is that I didn’t get the Cyberbeast ???

Is there another electric pick up on the market with FSD, air suspension, ridiculously unique styling, and steer by wire?

No?

Ok, well there you go.

Pre-ordered the moment it was revealed and knew I was getting one of the first 10,000 from that day forward. I put money on it the minute I got my invite to buy it a couple days after Christmas 2023. Only regret I have is not using a friend in Texas’ address to get it even sooner ?

Sure I’ve had the thumbs down, middle fingers, eye rolls, laughing, head shaking, frowning, shouting and even a couple situations where I was forced out of my lane, but - especially in the early days of ownership - the most fun I’ve ever had in a vehicle talking with complete strangers in almost every parking lot I ever went to. Every stop light. Even while driving down the road.

Not a regret at all. Just have to pinch myself once in a while.

I never really wavered on wanting it, but seeing the original concept in person at the Petersen in early 2023 solidified it for me!

I've been considering this a lot lately.. Having moved to a new city (college town) right before making my purchase and not establishing a strong community of friends here, its been rough having such a controversial vehicle and being treated like a pariah in some circumstances.. The inability to park my vehicle without considerations has brought me a lot of anxiety also. I've not gone on second dates because they found out I have a CT.. Everything has become political.. I did not think the CT would get THIS MUCH hate.. ....
I had a woman walk up as I was getting into the truck, and ask if I wanted a girlfriend.

Does that count?

I would tell my past self that you shouldn’t even hesitate, it’s beyond your wildest imagination how cool this truck is. I would buy it again without hesitation and I’m keeping this thing until the wheels fall off, it’s so good. All the misinformation about CT makes me so sad because that’s just that many people who won’t get to experience what we do ;(

I definitely would. There are somethings I'd like to see improved which is mainly the use of cheap plastics externally on a truck, the interior creaking, and just the build quality with glued etc. haven't had too many issues otherwise here. I really like how functional it actually is with space and comfort for us with dogs, road trips, etc. size is great.

100% Yes. I had been driving an S85D since November 2015. That car is still in the family, with 370,000 km and many more to go. The CT which cost about as much as the model S from 10 years ago is so more value for the money.

Never thought I'd buy an EV, being an old hot rod gas guy. HOWEVER, I love this truck and would do again. Heck, all the issues/complaints above should be expected given a totally new truck concept being introduced by Tesla. Other newly introduced models have similar start-up issues. I sold my 2021 Defender to buy it. Loved the Land Rover Defender, but the CT is much more comfortable and much easier to drive.

Why are you holding out of a smaller one? It’s incredibly nimble even in tight lots. Size has never been an issue thus far in ownership.
I know everything about Cybertruck's awesomeness and also a long term T$LA holder but ? ?

Car insurance is cheaper than your Nissan?? Hmmm, that is nice! I read on here that CT insurance is very high!
My CT added 50$/month to my insurance. I didn't do a trade in so it was a net-add to my insurance.. but very reasonable. With progressive I'm paying $1600 every six months for 2 Model Y's, CT, and a Civic.. I feel like that's pretty good considering we also have an 18 year old girl on the insurance.

I would… but I certainly WOULD NOT join this lame ass club again. People in here are RUDE with nothing better to do than chop posts up and tear members down. It’s despicable and immature. I woild expect much more from a group of adults who share something really cool in common.
