My reasons why I bought the cybertruck are all fulfilled, no disappointments there, so yes I would buy again. My only slight upset is that I should have waited maybe six months to get the better financials. I paid FS uplift because I wanted the truck in 2024, and was expecting to see a long wait for the non-FS to come available. In hindsight I could have saved a lot by waiting a few months and buy non-FS, add FSD and lifetime connectivity, get the tax rebate. I don’t care about wheels or interior colors or the special floormats.

This was a first time Tesla buy. I was/am OK with feature evolving over time that I won’t fully get. But was not expecting such a price drop so shortly after I got mine (8/30/2024).

btw: it looks like I need to shop around for insurance. I took the Tesla insurance here in CA, pay $250+ per month, for two drivers, 65/70y, one minor parking lot fender bender accident in last five years, 12000m/y. Anybody on here living in the Bay Area and have a recommendation?
I was also assuming more like a Jan 2025 Non FS release plus a long wait to get one.

There seemed to be a million “got my invite! What is this foundation stuff! Waiting for the regular model!”

Those became “waiting for the tax credit!” Guys (remember, 2024 non FS didn’t qualify)

Then the tax credit came. Still, I would imagine a very small percent of those voicing pricing grievances online actually converted. Likely mainly price, as even $72k is aspirational for most.

then they became readily available with various incentives. FOMO gone.

Yes, and I'll buy another one if it gets a refresh. No regrets on the FS either. I probably would have optioned it similarly if the FS version didn't exist. I might have skipped on powerhsare, but now that its kicked on a few times I see the value.

I don't understand the fixation on free supercharging, and I'm not eligible for the tax credit. So those weren't worth waiting for.

I've had very few negative reactions, and most of those were in the first few months. I do feel bad for those of you who live in areas where that's an issue. Its just a vehicle, people need to grow up.

Its just a vehicle, people need to grow up.
These days there are a growing number of people with low self-esteem who feel the need to look towards others for approval.

Personally, I just take life by the horns and do what I believe in. And on the increasingly rare occasion that someone displays disapproval, I just laugh inside. And why should I care what ignorant people think? I have always seen more positive feedback than negative. And the people providing positive feedback seem like much happier people, and more well adjusted too.

how old are your kids? This just be age based. Elementary school it’s cool. High school I think you hit the “too cool to like stuff” / fear your actual positive opinion might be uncool so stick to the negative to avoid getting made fun of
Just getting into teenage years (so middle school). They weren't at all excited when I placed the order - I should have seen the writing on the wall at that time. I thought they would come around. I got the truck in September. Ofcourse it got worse after the election and all the negative publicity.

Mind you this is not in the liberal West coast where we moved from but fairly conservative S Florida suburbs.

In general from what I've seen - boys seem to like CT and girls, not so much. I've seen them call CT "ugly" - that goes with the "trash can" comparison.

Ofcourse - I used to drive a Nissan Leaf for years and lot of people called them Ugly. But EVs themselves were a novelty at that time and my kids were small. When I got Model 3 in 2018, they were absolutely thrilled and everyone in the school liked them and asked about them.

I want to make another general point - which a lot of Tesla fans seem to miss.

Tesla benefited from positive word-of-mouth and free ads on social media, for over a decade. Now it is the opposite - it is negative word-of-mouth and bad social media attention. We can't say the first part was real and the second part fake. Both are as real as they come ...

Given what you know now (May 2025)…take out the fanboyism…take into account the controversial style, social hatred, recalls, fit & finish, discoloration of bed, FSD updates lagging behind other Teslas, no matrix headlights, no range extender battery, etc.

(Note, i am NOT a hater…please see my previous posts…but just want to list as many negatives as i can think of so to get an accurate answer. And yes, i have been researching A LOT and know that there are MANY positives about CT…but just want to push people to give honest answer.)

What would you tell your younger self if you could travel back in time to when you hit the BUY button? Would you stop yourself from buying? Or not? If Tesla bought back your CT today, then would you buy another again?
Here's my experience from someone who has driven trucks forever..........
For us CT owners up here in upstate New York, where there are few CTs driving around, I have to schedule at least an extra half an hour for any local trips around here to answer all of the questions I get about "what the heaven are you driving". So I decided to list them on a card that I give out if I'm in a hurry, here it is:
Cybertruck 30 minute dissertation short form;
My 7th and last truck (previous daily drivers, all 4x4 Toyotas starting with the 1979 SR5, last Tundra, a 2014 had 220,000 miles on it), love this beast, is the future, all electric, lightning quick (0-60 2.6 sec), steer by wire progressive steering (full left to right lock 340°), 4 wheel steering (really tight turns), air suspension (17" high setting clearance), regenerative breaking (rarely use breaks), 48 volt low voltage (really small wiring harnesses), Etherloop communication, heavy duty stainless steel body, almost NO maintenance (Tires, wiper blades & fluid is about it), over the air updates, and most importantly gas pickup $60 to drive 250 miles, Cybertruck $15-$19 electricity (400 wH/mile x 250 miles at $.15-$.19/kWh) to drive 250 miles, full slow charge at home 5 hours, full fast charge at supercharger 45 minutes, and Tesla is 10-15 years ahead of everyone else.

I voted "No".

As an early Model 3 owner - and 99% time FSD user - CT has turned out to be disappointing.

I think the most important one is the social aspect - my kids refused to be even dropped or picked up from school in CT. They were so excited about Model 3 - and all their friends too. I don't know how much of this is because of Elon going Nazi political backlash - and how much just social media influencers constantly making fun of and bashing CT in particular as a "trashcan" (not Tesla in general).

On the technical side - it is always lagging behind other HW4 cars in terms of FSD. Lots of small and big issues with the CT build/design (sharp edges, for eg). 100k for the Foundation version doesn't seem worth it.

If given a choice today - I'd probably buy Y (or felt like spending more X). If FSD wasn't so important to me - I'd look at Rivian and others.
Strange. I have middle school kids, and they were the ones that talked me into buying the Cybertruck, and they still beg me to drop them off in it every morning. The first morning I did, all the kids were all over it. Wows, looks of awe, and thumbs up were all I saw. To this day, the kids all love this thing….

I would 100% buy the Cyberbeast again, I have it for 6 months and 1 week and put on 17,000 miles on it. Love it, only thing I would do is consider buying it used to save 20k. But I love mine and will continue to drive it for another 10 years.

Yes. It’s not a dd for me, but mostly a utility truck for trips to Costco, the dump, paddle boarding or mountain biking. I use a 911 turbo cab as a dd in the summer and a macan for the winter. But the CT is a great utility vehicle. Not great for spontaneous road trips because of few chargers here in Alberta - but great for the city and surrounding area by about 150km radius.

In my experience, I get the same reaction to the Cybertruck from both boys and girls. Now, boys are more likely to scream "Cybertruck!!" than girls.

Just yesterday, I was playing a mixed dubs tennis match. My partner had her two daughters with her (think they're 5 and 6 or 7 yo). They went outside for a second and came running back in saying, "Mom, there's a Cybertruck outside!!" We were about to go on court so didn't have a chance to let them check it out...but next time I will!

Huh? There has always been a ton of negative publicity surrounding Tesla and Elon. How quickly we forget. And the positive publicity hasn't slowed down, we just have more negative publicity than we previously had. Overall, the total amount of publicity has increased.

And you know what people who promote products and events say, all publicity is good publicity. Tesla auto sales are going to go on another tear over the next several years. Word is getting out and the economy will pick back up.

Own a 296 GTB Ferrari, 992 porsche targa 4, 25’ corvette z06, 2023 porsche Panamera and I would sell all these before my cyberbeast - the darn car is smarter than me and a much better driver as well- really don’t need my wife any longer and this realization will save me tons of money? Also entertains me as well- with Netflix’s -!; yourtube,
