Would the trailering runs have a specific standard trailer that will be used for carrying the 10k lbs?

If not, each trailers differences in like drag coefficient of drag, frontal area, length, rolling resistance (rolling friction), surface finish, etc would make comparing tow vehicles and trip times very difficult.

Good points. I think figuring out the most efficient trailer combination is part of the fun. Standardize the type of load but BYOT. No additional batteries though.

If you propose a standardize trailer, I would suggest some type of Uhaul trailer.

That's to bad. I would want to get my 10k lbs from batteries lol. Put a motor on/in it or allow the CT to charge while driving and you never have to stop

No, just that they don't have to do long, public tests of endurance when they can do metal fatigue tests much more quickly in a lab situation.

And they can take what they know about their smaller vehicles, and materials and engineering formula, to scale things up without needing to know if it can do it at all.

Towing out in the 'real world' doesn't really tell you as much about engineering things as stress tests in a lab does. It will help them teach them if their software is up to the task, but as I said, they tend to do that last. They can over-the-air update shipped trucks.

That’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is it’s no surprise you haven’t seen anything yet. Because they can get most data from what they know and simulations. They will probably test but in controlled environments outside of prying eyes.
But it’s not necessary, I think, to do all in the open testing.

BTW. I’m an engineer. So I too have some experience in designing and testing. Have done plenty without full testing needed. Just verification of simulations.

So just chill. Sounds like you have an axe to grind.

I agree with you that Tesla does most of its testing out of public view. I am not a mechanical engineer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

I see the world from a different view than most, literally!

From the air, there are DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of big oval tracks in the middle of BFE is this country. Somebody is driving a whole lot of something out there. Many of them I don’t think you could get within 5 miles of without being spotted.
