Ref: Tesla Secures Contract With Hyundai Glovis To Ship Cars Out of China (insideevs.com)

"Tesla Time News" did talk about that today.
What is to be noted is that this is only a one year contract (perhaps with extension clauses). Given that production in Texas and Berlin will start in 2022, it might explain the short term contract. Another thought is that for the future Tesla would purchase a few ships for shipping their own vehicles around the world. "Local" production is good to a point, but it can only go so far. Vertical integration including shipping around the world is very much how Tesla is doing things.

What do you think? It would be very cool to see a few massive Tesla ships. What could she be named?

Boaty McBoatface Jr
If Tesla ever gets shipping ship(s) the naming of it will be great free publicity for Tesla. Here is an example about the "Boaty McBoatface" naming issues, as you are making reference to:

Ref: Boaty McBoatface controversy 'good for science', MPs told - BBC News

Extract "The controversy over the naming of a new polar research vessel was an "astoundingly good outcome" for public interest in science, MPs have heard.
The National Environment Research Council defended its decision to hold a public poll to suggest names, in which Boaty McBoatface got the most support.
Professor Duncan Wingham said the row had "put a smile" on people's faces.
But MPs asked if he would be made to "walk the plank" by ministers, who named it after Sir David Attenborough.
Prof Wingham was giving evidence to the Commons Science and Technology Committee about the episode, which attracted huge public interest and divided opinion after Boaty McBoatface was passed over.
He said that ministers' decision to name the vessel after the eminent zoologist and broadcaster - the option which came fourth in the poll - while allowing Boaty McBoatface to live on by naming a remotely operated sub-sea vehicle after it was an "eloquent compromise"."

I hope it will float on the water!

Glovis secured a 422 million contract for 1 year.

I vaguely recollect reading it costs Tesla $1000 to ship a car. (maybe I dreamt it, lol)

We can roughly say shipping 500,000 cars.

Wildly guessing 100,000 for parts of the world, but 400,000 to Europe to support the ramp up.

Despite the delay in German approval, Europe will still be getting their Tesla quota, one way or another.

Onya Elon, shove it up em !!!

I think it would be efficient if they would load full self-driving software on the vehicles and let them drive/load/park themselves (Swarm on/off of the ships). Then remove the self-driving software prior to delivery to the ones who didn't pay for the option.

I don't think Tesla loads/unloads software. It's probably already there, and just activated or deactivated.

They've put parking and ganging as low priorities, but I wonder how much they could save in drivers if the cars piloted themselves in the lots...
