I really like the expansive view of the front window. Since I’ve had the CT, I have just had the visors turned to the sides of the truck. This works but the visors to vibrate and at times might squeak with the road bumps. So after months of procrastinating, I finally got around to making some clips.

I printed in PETG so they might tolerate the heat. They fit with or without the sun shade in place. They allow the visor to be functionally lowered when out to the side and easily positioned to the front.

I hope it’ll be useful for the community.

Here is a link in Makerlab. I notice in the photos, the clip looks super obvious. This was due to the flash. In real life, my old eyes cannot even see them!

BTW, the post photo is showing a little visor mod that I did not design but find very useful for lowering the visor flap - highly recommended!

Thanks, I have bought these from Amazon for the same purpose, because after the Model X, I've found the windshield view quite limited, but they did not look really good. Thanks for the design, I'm definitely going to use it.

Panoramic windshield is the way. My passenger side one keep angling down so I may need this. Thought about just taping it to the top lol. Driver side is perfect. Stays in place.

That would be my exact feeling after driving the X since 2016 ... I love the "Big Sky" windshield on road trips (mountain or city drives) as well as some stoplights or signage.

This will be a perfect product for me as I was worried about losing that open feel of my X.
I was focused so much on I collected several pictures on it and was wondering how I could keep them out of the way.

Thanks so much! This is a fantastic idea and thank you for sharing! Not sure if anybody else had this issue printing, but the cover on one side came apart when pulling it off the tray. If any way to adjust the model to be thicker / more robust to prevent that, that would be amazing!

I printed with 4 loops - which should improve strength. I did not have this issue - but you could try a larger nozzle like .6mm or maybe .8mm. Another thing that might help is letting the build plate cool down completely before removing the print. And lastly, using a glue stick as a releasing agent might help. Oh and if you are printing in PETG, do not print on a smooth plate but use a textured plate.
Good luck and I’m glad you like the idea!

I feel like an idiot because I was thinking “how do these people not hit their heads getting out of the CT every time?” Duh, you have it turned “flat” to the ceiling. I’m a doofus.

Going to use this design right now!

@Sandman1962 Thank you so much for creating this. It works great and really opens up the windshield quite a bit.

One question/comment... is it possible to slightly modify the print so there is a small clip on the top that slides into the top trim. Because it is currently flat, at times it will slide out of place and fall off. With a small clip there, it "should" grasp the top trim and stay in place.

Other than that, it is great! I sent you a boost on MakerWorld. I appreciate your contribution to the CT community.

Thanks. I don’t have that problem of the clip coming out. It could be because I do use the sunscreen and that helps secure it. I’ll look into it and see if I can incorporate your suggestion.

Update: the previous poster was correct in that the printed clip can slip out from between the trim and the roof glass. In my case, the sun shade kept it firmly in place. I printed some prototype modifications and I believe it will solve this issue. Once I verified that it does work, I will upload to Makerlab and update this thread.

Ok! Done and uploaded the modified files. I added some ridges that fit between the roof glass and the trim and also altered the dimensions slightly to improve fitment. I don’t think it will fall out unintentionally. Hope this helps!

I could not edit the original files so here is the link to the new version in Makerworld
