In this shot you can easily see the difference in various panels - doors vs. the rear vault vs. front fender sheet metal.
Always wondered about this? Was once a roofing contractor specializing in metal only. Of course we used galvanized metal not SS but there just has to be a slight difference in each roll of cold rolled stainless. It's called spangle which is a difference or a variance in the grain. Unless each sheet of SS is off the same roll and cut off the roll in the same direction (top to bottom) there will be mismatched spangle on each CT. Matching spangle on each truck will be very hard to impossible to maintain.
This of course will not make me cancel my order ... just mentioning this for the ultra fussy.

This is one of those things where we won’t really know about until production. It is possible the whole side will be cut from a single piece of steel. Seems like a good way to minimize waste. Otherwise you have a piece with a big door shaped hole in it. They might need that extra material so that might be impossible.

Also… if they stamped some star shaped pieces out and adhered them to the tailgate… would it be a star spangled banner?

Tesla Model Y LR, Model 3 SR, CT on order

To be honest, I have never thought "what a good looking vehicle". For me, it's all about reliability, durability, utility and economy (in no particular order). The Dual Motor with the newest battery technology at build time would be perfect.

My only desire to have the Cybertruck now is my age. I'm almost as old as Sandy Monroe (e.g ancient) and the CT will most likely be my last vehicle purchase. I'd like to hand it down to a grandchild at some point and I believe that will be possible. Tesla is doing so much more than making a truck. They are redefining how to build tresterial human transporters and I'm glad to be alive to experience it.

I wonder if the range estimates are based on "Limbo mode" being active.

Side note: I hope they are still planning to ship CT with the original prototype rims (or hub caps).

Tesla quotes the most generous range possible.

So if you see a number from them, you can be sure it’s in whatever is the most efficient (and drivable) mode they have. I doubt range would be based on a setting which is impractical for driving on the highway, but it’ll be the lowest setting available for highway driving.

The Cybertruck is truly weird. From some angles I think it looks awesome. From others it’s just oddball.

For me the appeal has always been the engineering around the truck and it’s manufacture. Engineering porn if you will. Most everything about it is done in a particular way for a particular reason. Even the fact that much of that engineering was done to cut down on costs appeals to me.

Well… so long as those savings are passed down to me anyhow.

I gotta say, that low stance with the shortened nose makes it look kind of weak to me. I like the original look much better.

Looks more like a sports car than a truck in this configuration.

I wonder if it’ll come with Cheetah stance like the MS Plaid.

Also… seems like the wiper gets bigger when it gets lower to the ground.
I cant wait to hear that wiper working......just cant comprehend how fast that big thing will be able to go in long downpours in the south

I think the very flat windshield will clear water pretty fast even without the wiper. If it does in fact have a water repelling coating on it, the wiper may be more about legal compliance.

I removed the Aero Caps on my Model Y and although it costs me a small mileage penalty, I prefer the look of the Gemini 19" stock RIM. The rims you see on these photos are probably the base tire rim. The CyberTruck being what it is, needs those Aero Caps to maximize the range potential so I'm sure they will be provided.

BTW, on the Model Y there is an approximate 7% reduction in range @ 70mph without the Aero Covers. That equates to about 20 miles per full charge in range penalty. I imagine that would be that or even more with the CyberTruck.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee with QuadraLift (air adjustable ride height) goes to "Aero" level when I'm traveling above 45MPH. "Areo" is lower than "Normal" but higher than "Entry/Exit" level. There is nothing I can do to change the ride height from "Aero" when going above 45MPH.
