I would rather have a cover plate that's not a conductor instead of a direct connection to a 240V 60A circuit. Of course electrical panels are always metal but they are also always grounded with an earth ground. This is also why most electrical outlet covers are plastic (except in my various shops where I used metal plates and made sure everything was grounded properly). Depending on who installs your charger, the box might not be grounded properly and having a metal box that's improperly grounded doesn't help much.

The cover could be grounded, or it could be just made to look like Stainless Steel...

but I like the Stainless Steel stand and cover plate grounded.

Well, I meant the wall connector itself.

But you know, I think I remember a 3M "stainless steel" vinyl, I'll bet you could just get the cover wrapped in that.

You could just skin it with aluminum foil…
