Tesla already mixed metals in Model 3 and it looks like a mix here as well. One needs to "bond" the front and rear castings with something very tough; the shell reinforces the resulting 3-part body, but is not the main structural component.
They might use structural adhesive like they do in all their other vehicles. Stuff is extremely strong

Real only if you think that right rear wheel will be a foot higher
The perspective shift is throwing things out of alignment. The wheel wells are high to give room for the air suspension to do it’s thing…

I may not know what I am talking about but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

What gets me is why have such a linear/angular body if you're gonna curve the frame anyway? Just seems like more work… different to be different.

Y’all keep saying ā€œcastingsā€ but I don’t see any castings in this photo. Castings provide the underbody structure, like this:

Tesla Cybertruck Cybertruck Body Prototype Casting spied uncovered!! 😲 80C15175-213C-46F4-86D1-DF7E4E6286F4

Castings are not painted. No way they could be that huge, particularly since the 9kt gigapress awaits its unboxing?

To me, the black parts look like composite materials to support the bed and interior, and are neither castings nor exoskeleton.

So much for the idea there will be ā€œNo paintā€

It almost looks like 2 gigacastings in the rear one on each side. A lot different from what I expected and very much nixes the sail pillar storage.

I understand that but from the start we’ve been led to believe that the frame of this truck is 30x stainless
The exoskeleton is 30X stainless, not the inside cab, the giga castings, or the battery pack. I didn't initially realize it but there is no exoskeleton in these pics.

That is disgusting looking. I never expected something so gnarley looking under the beautiful exoskeleton. Honestly, it's like when you splatter some road kill on the highway, they you stop and back up to look at it. I really hope that's not the Cybertruck entrails I'm looking at. We were definitely led to believe it was all SS! What the hell, man. I'm imagining all kind of welded sheets of 30x cold rolled shit under there. I mean, I get that we need giga castings there, I'm OK with that, but the rest of that is shit. What the hell is shit painted white for? I'll be back after vomiting a bit. Maybe a lot. ? ?
Tres gross.

I hope there's at least a no mid-gate option. That's feature is not for me. IMO, the utility doesn't outweigh the extra cost, complexity, leak risk, and lower frame rigidity. But that's only my opinion.
But it would be useful.

So you guys think that these pieces are part of the rear casting and thus permanent? Is the slope right for the red line shown above overlaid onto the cybertruck photograph? In the first photograph it seems too high, and what is the purpose? If the exoskeleton is carrying the loads then why would these pieces be needed? But if they are real then I understand @Crissa statement about the wings....not that we expected them to survive after the second-generation beta was shown at CyberRodeo.
We don’t know this is the final design at all. There are beta trucks being made. These should be close to the final if they are ā€œbetaā€, but obviously the Gigapress is now installed So it’s not final.

The filthy stuff? If it’s meant to be a work truck, it’s going to get some dirt in there. even my current Model 3 isn’t completely clean - it’s often dirty. ?ā€ā™‚ It’s still a tool, after all.
I have a jeep gladiator and we used to use Tundras as part of our work fleet. With that back window down or the top off, if the bed aint spotless, everything back there ends up all over the cab and its occupants.
a seal may work initially with the midgate up but imagine trying to make it work right after sand, pea gravel, mulch, dirt, hay etc has been back there a few times. What about chemical fumes?

Looks fake to me. That casting makes no sense. And wheel well? On driver's side is closed off at bottom and casting sticks out past rear door. Fake fake fake
I almost wonder if some of that structure was to keep the body shape while they shipped it or is just temporary pieces until the rest of the stamping forms are completed.
