Is this the most profitable nearly always the most expensive? You sound like a man with a dual motor on orderšŸ˜Š
Not always. Profitability in mass production is a function of "time" with more units out of the door and spending the lest amount of time on the production floor which is the function of lest complexity in the process and less parts.

And we are all VERY excited, hence my suggestion to purchase WD-40 Shares! Im pretty sure Elon uses it to shine his rocket(s) as well.
Must be. Grimes divorced him because he is obsessed and spending more time with his tiny (and shining and stroking his) rockets. :p

You think 60% of people donā€™t actually go through with it? Dang. Heck ya. Iā€™m like 100k in like if thatā€™s true..
If you are 40k in line and say 60% of the early orders don't complete which puts u about 16,000 in line yeah u might get urs.
Before people get all huffy saying 60% is too high please remember it's been about 5 years. People die, they get married, they have a kid, that kid grows up and goes to college. Interest rates go up, stock market goes down, they get laid off from Twitter.
There is a world of difference between putting $100 down and then waiting 5 years and then actually purchasing $60,000 vehicle.
Man I hope so- I am at 141,000 currently

Depends.

How is battery supply?

If you can make 30,000 dual motor trucks or 20,000 tri motors trucks, which is more profitable?

Itā€™s not as simple as ā€œmore expensive is more profitableā€. Tesla wants to get volume production fast. Whatever gets them there fastest is most likely. If itā€™s a tie, then they will look at profitability. So if there are lots of batteries and lots of motors, quad/ tri will probably win. If one or the other is constrained, probably dual.

I have a tri motor on order so not pushing for dual motor, just pointing out things are not as cut and dried as a lot of people think.

I suppose I need to start very slowly warming up the wife for this. She thinks it's too ugly to own, and hates the idea. But then look at my profile pic, that used to be the third-ugliest vehicle ever made, now the CT replaces it in that spot. And after driving that truck, she actually said she liked it. And then one day, I found her choosing it over the BMW because of the visibility and adaptive cruise perfection.

So I think I just need to work on this a little bit each week for the next year.

Starting at 50 units per week 5 MONTHS from now. And reaching 1000 per week after 2 months... then into the 3000's by end Dec...

I have incremental increases of 150 per week....

What is the constraint? Are we Lucid ?

Austin was building model y betas 3rd quarter 2021...they didn't do first deliveries until April 2022. We all don't know what their timeline is but going from past ramp up from Berlin Austin and Shanghai...looks like about 6 months from start of production to deliveries. Keep in mind during this time they are prob building a couple CT a week to crash, to test in the coldest and hottest parts of the world. Elon will be driving his around testing out hardware 4 and FSD. All this takes time.

Show your wife these pictures, and then the Cybertruck might not look so bad to her. Also for many I think the CT design tends to 'grow' on people:

Tesla Cybertruck Elon: Cybertruck will have Autopilot HW4. Production still coming in Summer. Beta Cybertrucks coming next month. CT will be Musk's personal vehicle 1674761830963

I heard the Cybertruck is going to suck and it's ugly so you definitely shouldn't buy it.
(There, now it's a 61% dropout rate - you're welcome)

And if it does not work, there is such things as bribing the wife with 2-carat diamond ring. But you may to plan for a lower downpayment on your CT.

When I hear Beta - I'm thinking 10-100 CTs around. Not 1000 Betas.
My son who used to work for Tesla estimate around 50 units being tested by employees. It's not on-track testing but employees taking it home to and from work -- and some weekends.

And it's not that they will be stopping or throttling production to wait for the results of the tests.
