I think there's some serious camera distortion here, but still...
Those pillars are bad news.

I don't see how they won't be a constant obstacle and make the field of view narrower.
There's no redesign or trim adjustment that will fix that. It just is what it is at this point.

This shows the interior of the Cybertruck that was on display during the recent shareholder day at giga texas.

Those pillars are thicc!

I thought the pillars on my ridgeline were sightline restricting. When turning in my ridgeline i have to literally lean over back and forth to make sure im not going to run someone over. These take it to the next level. Thank god there are cameras everywhere and safety warnings, cause without those, you'd be taking people out on every turn in manhattan.

No valid basis not to have HUD with all the data a driver will be able to use. In terms of user experience and GUI, that would score highest on a test group IMO
I totally agree with you. I was disappointed they that the cluster display won’t be there, but I was really hoping for a HUD. It’s suppose to be techno bandwagon after all.

I think his point is the huge dash is going to be the limiting factor and will provide as much of an obstruction as the hood would on a normal truck... because the dash board is higher than the hood of the car is.... is he right or wrong.. no clue.. i wanna sit in one and find out!
close, but more exactly:

may point was: people exclaiming the CT will have wildly better visibility can’t show me how that could possibly be true, to such a significant degree

because the way the Ct is built, it’s anyone’s guess which might have “better” visibility - and whoever “wins” that debate will come down to minor differences, not some avalanche

more exactly, the differences will be so minor, that different people’s use cases will arrive at different conclusions

so I’m definitely not saying the CT’s visibility will be worse; I’m only saying there’s no basis for believing it will be wildly better than other trucks (technology aside)

I think we will see a 6th seat albeit a small one. Check out the foot rest.
Yeah, that cubbie would translate easily to a foot rest, and the center console doesn't come close to connecting to the dash. I think there will be a small 6-seat option. Heck, they put 7 in the Y even though the 3rd row is only good for elves. That's all I want this for anyway, sticking my 5 year old up front if the grandparents tag along for a drive or the skinniest drunk friend if we need to load everyone home from the bar some time.

But the a pillars have glass for visibility.

The triangle glass actually provides a great deal of visibility in the driver's seat.
based on what experience? And I don’t think you are seeing the thought through

Look back at the top OP photo, look for that triangle window you’re referencing, and see the aperture from the driver’s perspective

besides, the question isn’t how much can you see through the triangle window, it’s how little an you see due to the A and B pillars

I’m not taking a position on the answer, but I sure understand the basis of the question

here’s a way of thinking about it: the CT B-pillar is located where the F150 B pillar is located, and they’re both every bit as thick as one-another - let’s call it even wet the B-pillar then, for argument’s sake

the CT’a a-pillar doesn’t have an analogue in rhe F-150. Whatever that A-pillar restricts a view of is not a restriction in the F-150

so here’s a shot from my F-150 that does only rough justice to the difference - please no one try and act like I’m saying this is anything more than illustrate of the rough question

now, of course that difference isn’t fatal to visibility, but it sure as hell isn’t helpful

Based on the experience that vehicles with glass a pillars provide more visibility by being able to see through the a pillar because it's glass?

eg: vans with glass a pillars.

My rough A-pillar visibility calculations show the CT having worse visibility than the F-150.

F-150: 96 degrees at the bottom of the A-pillars to 142 degrees at the top.
CT: 65 degrees at the bottom to 134 degrees at the top.

This is all due to the windshield being farther from the driver's eyes than in the F-150.

There is a window in the a-pillar. You can see through your red and solid yellow lines.

Your doodles aren't accurate because the second pillar behind the A is much smaller than on the F-150 and is vertical.

You'll have insurance. Don't worry about it.

I didn't even notice that pillar. What a terrible idea. Even if it doesn't actually block view, mentally it's going to be annoying, especially combined with the ridiculous dash and glare (which is a problem for other Teslas as well).

I'm still hoping that's the cheap 2 motor and the top trip will be more S/X-like.
