Is anyone else concerned about the sunlight and heat build up under the large windshield surface area under it? Besides a huge sun reflecting blocker when parked. is there a legal limit on the amount of mirrored reflection a windshield can have built into it?
I’m worried about as much as I was worried before and after purchasing a Model 3, aka not worried at all.

I’m more concerned about the body of the CT getting super hot to the touch during sun exposure. Because of this, I’m glad it’ll have the auto-presenting doors.

nope. Model 3 - all glass roof, no problem, better than Q7 with all glass roof, had to keep roof shade on in summer.

would be interesting if you can make omelet on the trunk somewhere in AZ or NV (just put it uphill so eggs don't run down)

Exactly! I have family in AZ, once I get the CT I’ll have to drive there when I visit to test this out.
Speaking of AZ, the super charger infrastructure there is extremely lacking, I was very disappointed. This was 2 years ago though, not sure if things have changed by now.

Regular side or door glass, such as tempered glass, blocks UVB rays, but it allows 63% of UVA rays to penetrate the cabin of a given vehicle.
(y)

which blocks the UVB that causes skin cancer, but not the UVA which causes skin damage

a classic journal article case study of a man who was a truck driver, with 25 years of auto glass UVA exposure to primarily his driver’s side window

Tesla Cybertruck Anyone concerned about the sunlight and heat build up under the large windshield surface? BD9ACDA8-0D47-4755-9B81-500187B188D1

Someone’s done a compare of what either side would look like, unified

I thought the view above in our Model 3 and Model Y were awesome and then on our Denver road trip a grater on the side of the road threw a road that cracked our moon roof and the crack spread across the entire moon roof and it had to be replaced. Not warranty so it cost me $1,200. As a result, I am concerned about the ability of the armor glass to withstand this kind of abuse much more than I am concerned about how much heat enters the cabin.
This is exactly why I want a 3mm cold-rolled stainless steel roof instead of glass.

Over the years I have had enough of cracked & broken auto glass.

One time it wasn't even my car. A friend loaned me his only 6 month old Toyota Camry (fully loaded with almost all luxury options) and while on the interstate a truck in adjacent lane dropped a couple rocks that cracked the Toyota Camry's windshield.

I will buy Cybertruck even if it has a glass roof but I hate hate hate glass roofs.

Oh yeah, stove-tops with glass too. Had to pay $1,000 to replace glass stove-top in an apartment I had only rented for 6 months. Arrrrgghhhh

I watched a you tuber experiment. On a 95 degree day a model 3 lost 11 miles using active ventilation. I think over 9 hours. I switched mine off. Use the remote and turn it on 5 minutes before you arrive to your car.

Someday the car will be more intuitive it will realize that when parked at work you don't normally leave except at possibly noon or 5 or what not. It might recognize the grocery store and know you will be back with frozen stuff in 20 minutes and automatically maintain 70 F.

Tesla's are very good, but there is room for a lot of improvement. Another setting is winter heat. I would like to set the standby cabin heat to 40F. Currently it defaults to the last setting. I don't need 70F. I can wait a couple minutes to get the car back up to 70F. I just don't want to get in a 20F car if I don't have to. This would help a lot with winter range loss.

i guess I never actually answered the op's question....

No this doesn't bother me at all... the place the truck will sit the most is in front of my garage in Texas sun where i can charge it whenever i decide i need it the next day

i intend on leaving the cabin overheat protection on <yes this will cost me a few miles a day but i drive it at least two or three times a week and very rarely over 150 miles on any given week.

So the max cabin temp will be 100 degrees for me... and the range loss is on all other tesla's fairly low per day especially since i plan on getting whatever the long distance model turns out to be <originally it was the tri motor> IF i take it to the airport i never travel for more than 2 weeks.. 14 days at 8 miles a day far less than half a charge i will have 200+ miles when i get home.. so i should be ok for how i plan on using the vehicle..

this won't work for everyone.. some drive so seldom 8-12 miles a day is a big issue.. others will need every drop of range they can get.. but for ME.. it is fine to leave the heat protection on 8)
