Graining is tricky. I am thinking to buff it to a rough level and see how that looks then if i get scratches i should be able to sand then rebuff to that same level locally. I hope.
Franz did say in an interview (somewhere) that they had developed an easy way for owners to restore the "graining" if it got messed up.

Elon says that this is tradition.

Anyone know what the tradition is exactly? Do the engineers do this like a week before production or something? Do we have evidence about this being done before? Production candidate model Y maybe?

Maybe a little off topic here.... but I just ended up doing a "redneck paint job" on the new bumper surround for my son's Yaris after he got in an argument with a mile marker....

The body shop wanted to $3500 to fix everything on a car that's worth MAYBE $3K now..... so we got all the parts for $400 including a new bumper surround, and decided to get two cans of Raptor Bed Liner in gray, which matches his car pretty well.

Just sprayed it this morning, and even doing it from rattle cans, it was super easy and came out looking awesome. I had seen this on a Toyota Tacoma (I think it's posted in a thread here somewhere)..... and still temped to do this to the CT!

Pretty drastic though, don't think it would come off easily.....

Is this real or CGI?
It's real. I saw it yesterday in Mountain View also.

Gave me hope regarding my at home wrap kit idea. Camo will hide any mistakes I make and the flat surfaces will definitely work to my advantage.

I was left with some curiosity though... The bed cover was left open and I couldn't see the wrap or treatment on the folds of the tonneau cover.

I plasti dipped my Silveraydo a few years back, lasted a year or two, then was easy to remove. Could be a fun alternative to wrapping, and if you wanna change the color again. you can just dip over the dip! lol

So I made the mistake this morning at 6:30 to open the video. It opens full volume to this rapper and my wife jumped from her sleep. Couldn't close or lower the volume fast enough.

She almost cashed in on my life insurance?

I just love that In n Out is the preferred nutrition stop of the CT project. Maybe there will be a CT burger on the secret menu.

(My fave In n Out secret item is the grilled cheese with peppers, sometimes animal style, yep, no burger).

Question for the group. It looks like the rear windows are tinted. Is this normal for Teslas, or do you think they are tinted to conceal what is inside from the public?
