Elon was picked up at Austin Bergstrom in Cybertruck this afternoon. Elon took Cybertruck for a drive.

Cybertruck, Austin, TX. Yee-haw.

But where was it made? Elon in a Cybertruck isn’t news. Anyone in a GigaAustin-made Cybertruck is huge news.

Lots of breadcrumbs suggest some trucks have been at least partly assembled in Texas and have Giga Castings. Suddenly the number of trucks on the road and in testing has exploded.

Why do you think they need to test trucks in NZ? They’ve already done winter testing on the prototypes.

Yo I'd believe you if you could tell me how many bodies are in GA right now. I'd drop everything.

It ain't zero.
Over three hundred. Lots have been shipped around the world already, including to a high-paying Saudi Prince. I usually don't drive Cybertruck around Austin, because I don't want the scrutiny. I am not Elon.

Just checking the score here, the relevant “breadcrumbs” that trucks are being built in TX are:

• increased sitings of prototypes in California

• Tesla at some unknown prior time did winter testing of Betas in Alaska, ipso facto Tesla benefits from no further winter testing of betas

• we’ve seen CT parts at GFTX

nobody disagrees that parts are being produced and partially assembled in TX. We’ve seen castings for months now. We’ve seen clip of a cab frame being surrounded by robot arms. We’ve seen a cab+casting frame leaving GFTX. all of which is consistent with nothing in particular outside what is obvious and uncontroversial: GFTX is building it’s RC pilot line.

meanwhile, Elon just arrived in Austin and instead of being supplied one of the many TX-built trucks flooding California highways, he was provided a (tired) Fremont Beta, brought to ATX from Petersen in the past 10 days

okey dokey

I could understand that. They are cheap plastic but I actually think the hubcaps help pull off that rugged apocalyptic look of the truck and the rims underneath look like they belong on bmw or something.
I am sure I am in the minority but I will be keeping my hubcaps on.

I predict you will most certainly not be in the minority. You may be in the minority on the forums, but not in the world. You can see on the 3, for example, that the overwhelming majority of people keep the aeros on, but when the vehicle first came out the forums were filled with Aero haters and the center caps were massively backlogged on the Tesla shop.

The aeros serve an important and useful function of boosting range ~10 miles in addition to reducing the risk of dirt and debris in the wheels and brakes. And I am with you that they help to pull off the blade-runner / mad max vibe that is the CT signature look.
