But where was it made? Elon in a Cybertruck isn’t news. Anyone in a GigaAustin-made Cybertruck is huge news.
That was my primary reasoning behind thinking it must have been built at GigaAustin.
So you know that this truck was still hand built? What happened to that prediction that the line would be operational early in July? Perhaps Elon was excited to drive the Cybertruck because it was actually driving well enough to drive around normally and not just as a publicity stunt…
Elon’s just not as excited about the CyberTruck as he is about the Model 3, so he just failed to mention he was driving a RC around Austin /s

That, or what the sum of all the posts in this thread makes clear
@Jhodgesatmb - I’ve only now realized that several of my earlier posts in this thread on the below topic/photos were deleted (for unknown reasons), which means my comment above wouldn’t make sense to you

long story short: this unit on Friday is the same one from Petersen two weeks ago, Cyber Roundup before that, Lithium refinery before that… an old Beta

Thought it generally worth reposting collectively (and crossing fingers it doesn’t get deleted again?):

Here’s Elon’s truck in Austin this past Friday, and the blemish on its driver’s front , and the three Velcro tabs across cab peak

Franz’s truck at Petersen Cars & Coffee two weeks ago had the same velcro tabs, and same blemish on driver’s front :

Here’s the same front flare from the unit out front of GFTX at Cyber Roundup, same Velcro tabs:

Before Cyber Roundup, this was the same unit with the rack at the refinery event and the cornfield. The blemish wasn’t on the fender at the official refinery event, and I suspect the blemish was from the mudding etc after the event (the Roundup unit was a mess underneath - and makes sense they kept it around between refinery and roundup event).

but the same unit at refinery event did have the Velcro, and in fact the rack itself may explain the Velcro? Given how they rack lips over the glass I could se them using the Velcro on the sides to protect the glass from scratching. Doesn’t explain the center Velcro tab, exactly

Why doesn't he simply drive over Zuck's Honda Fit, and fix the problem easily?

I assumed the velcro was just a method of attaching small sensors/sensor wires across the unusual roof of the Cybertruck.

Back in '82, DMC went broke quite suddenly; everyone was told to just drop their tools and go home. Some time later, the managers returned to finish the half-built cars, which became the '83 model year.

You only need a few guys to slowly build a test mule or two, you just can't make 5000/week that way. Of course, that's assuming they have sufficient tooling to make even one-offs of all the requisite parts, and have stocks of all the 3rd-party items.

Holy shit, Tesla sending ppl home and going bk!

I saw your video which is not entirely safe for publishing and Joe Tetgmeyer posted suggesting they were moving line workers to Cybertruck this week possibly for training. I also saw another Tweet which I cannot f&56ing find which confirms what your choke a duck ? video said, but I cannot find it ATM. Stuff that is 12+ hours stale on Twitter is gone forever.

Just breadcrumbs and hints. Signs and portends.

I bet this is one of the vehicles actually coming off the CT production line in Austin and not one of the hand built ones in Freemont. That’s the only reason I can think that he would specifically drive it and post about it.

I later saw that people were pointing out that there are some very specific similarities between this vehicle and some of the others like the one Franz had at the Petersen but who really knows either way. it seems like they are making some amazing progress in Austin so its anyones guess at this point.
