Having owned a Tesla for 5 years now, I can say that Range is actually not that big of a concern outside of specific edge cases (like towing or if you are going somewhere real remote with no bad charging infrastructure).
The two reasons i want a truck : tow things and go into remote off-road places

I've owned my M3 for about as long, and i'd call it "not bad" as well. But That isn't what i am paying 80k for... my M3 SR gets 220 mi on a full charge, and going to and from work (55 mile round trip) uses 90 miles each day. "not bad" isn't enough

So is patience

I don't know your route but try a better route planner with a long range model 3.

I don't know that it's a bait and switch. They originally said dual motor would be first and that it would be 300+ miles.

Later they said tri motor and then quad motor and now who knows

Agreed and they never said the tri would be 1st or built at same time as dual. With that we still do not know that it won't be built 1st or at same time. It is all rumors and speculation. We will all find out soon.

Wait i have been out of it for a day or two.. did Tesla or anyone associated with tesla say the 500 mile range is NOT being released out of the gate or is that just more "assumptions" by well meaning folks?

Idk if anyone thinks it won't come. I think ppl just wanted it first? Which it still might be. Who knows lol

If the tri is not introduced and available at same time as dual it most likely is not a priority, as @greggertruck mentioned, because of cell constraints. 4680 ramp may be a while before the output is at a place were cells are not creating a bottleneck.

Tesla values getting max amount of volume as possible on the road collecting data and purchasing software upgrades. Take rate on FSD may be higher than prior releases due to hardware 4 and recent progress on FSD. When FSD 12 hits it could be bonkers.

Just opinion, but I think the pricing will be reasonable. The Y's were in the 80's, now down to 47K with a $7500 fed tax credit. And according to Tesla dealer... one of best selling vehicles right now. So I believe Elon will not raise prices too much higher than the reveal. Fingers crossed.
New rumors are circulating that the CT’s battery pack will get 350 miles of range. The 4680 batteries aren’t as energy dense as we had hoped and are taking longer to advance. This smaller structural battery pack may help to cut costs though. Having the most reliable charging network and the potential for 1 Megawatt charging capacity on V4 Superchargers should also assuage fears about getting around in the CT (towing is another story).

Perhaps the Dual-motor AWD model will be the launch model to keep costs down as well. Plus Elon said the Ford F-150 Lightning is a good vehicle, but it’s too expensive. If we compare a supposedly similarly equipped Lightning (the Lariat at $69,995) to the speculated Dual-motor CT, maybe it will be between $60K and $70K? Sorry that took me so long to get to my point. I just wish they’d announce the price and specs already. Maybe tomorrow at the shareholder’s meeting, but probably closer to the launch announcement in September. Who knows.

I just watched another video about this from Dirty Tesla. Seems the general consensus is that the 4680 batteries are not as energy dense as we had hoped. The smaller structural pack will help to reduce the cost though. Maybe we’re looking at the Dual-motor to launch first. And with Elon’s hint at the Lightning being too expensive, maybe somewhere between $60K and $70K (compared to the Lariat)?

YES!!! One of my favorite kind of posts. Total speculation.

1. Too many to list here, but obviously automatic doors with no handles, the automatic tonneau cover for the vault, rear steering, air suspension, waterfall frunk, dual or tri motor, BAW, similar hauling and towing to original specs, cool as shit, etc.

2. Dual-motor AWD $70K - $80K
Tri-motor AWD $90K - $100K

3. Dual-motor AWD: 350-400 miles
Tri-motor AWD: 450-500 miles

4. Dual-motor AWD: 0-60 in 5-6 seconds
Tri-motor AWD: 0-60 in 3 seconds

It’s secret because it’s going to affect the reservation holders, many of whom have hyped this vehicle up to unrealistic levels.

There’s not going to be a single-motor $40K version. Elon has said as much. The CyberTruck is much more expensive than they thought it would be to make since it involves all kinds of new production processes.

It’s not an exoskeleton vehicle anymore due to safety and production issues. It’s now being referred to as an exoskeleton skin.

It will still be a badass armored personnel vehicle that blows all other trucks away with its futuristic aesthetics, durability, versatility, and functionality.

The difference of exoskeleton skin or Exoskeleton will be if the Stainless steel is bolted or welded to the internal structure. If welded the origami skin, triangular will definately be a structural component of the vehicle. Triangle are the strongest shape. The truck will be a truss on wheels!
