Can I pickup my Cybertruck at Giga Texas (factory delivery)?

I think Tesla is missing an additional profit center, if they don’t allow a tour and pickup. There is an option on vettes (at least there used to be) to pick up yours at the National corvette museum. You walk the museum and at the end is a nursery where you pick yours up. It comes with extras, but the option wasn’t cheap if I recall (thousands). I would totally be willing to pay extra to do something like that.

I agree that state laws do interfere, and it is likely easier for a non Texas resident who is paying for the car out of state to pick it up, but then, to quote Peter’s neighbor Lawrence “I’m talkin’ outta my ass”.

That sounds like a great plan

though just in case any out-of-state friends have differing views of “side-trip” from a 6.5 hour one-way drive

I'd love to hear from a TX Tesla owner on how the pickup process works. TX dealerships have a very strong lobby that opposes direct sales in the state. I am sure Tesla is lobbying to get the law changed.

I live in Leander Tx and picked up my Model Y at Tesla service center. Took about 15 minutes. I don’t know what games Tesla had to do with the State but it was invisible to me.

Hopefully a person or group of people asks Elon for factory delivery at Giga Texas. Waiting for years doesn’t hurt for me to pay a bit extra to experience a factory delivery and tour the factory that built said vehicle. Just hope both Tesla and Texas sees this as a way for economic growth for the community that the Giga Texas is located.

Model Y’s with the 4680 battery pack and front/rear aluminum alloy giga castings are only assembled in Texas right now. The sticker in the door jamb will tell you the city It was assembled in.

From what I can see so far the Cybertruck platform will closely mimic the Austin built Model Y.

A BIW with an open floor to accommodate a 4680 structural battery pack, seat risers attached the battery pack and front and rear aluminum Giga castings.

I live in TX and I took delivery of a 2023 MIT Model Y Long Range at a nearby Tesla showroom/service center. Zero problems. Exact same process as when I picked up my MIC Model 3 Long Range back in 2019.

mine was built in austin.. it is easy to tell just check the vin.. one of the digits tells ya where it was made..

and i live in fort worth and picked it up in fort worth in june.... the ONLY thing odd is.. you can't pay at the service center/showroom as they aren't dealers...

and you get a packet with your tax and title info.. so you have to pay sales tax (6.5% for me) when you get the tags and title... OUCH
