I've designed an overhead truck rack (CyberRack) for the Cybertruck that stores in its vault. Normally you don't see it, but when you need it, it sets up fast taking advantage of the rear sloping roof on the cab to allow for an extended front crossbar making its overall length over 100 inches. It should weigh about 85 pounds (Lighter if made from aluminum) and be easily removable. I think i can also design it to allow the sub-trunk to open when the rack's stowed.

Looks great. Do you think you have any issue with Tesla on calling it a CyberRack? Would think they have that copyrighted already. Good luck though. Should do really well.

Good idea, with a little more reinforcement to prevent vibrations maybe but it's a good start! To be continued ! ;)

cool idea, I would personally prefer it in a bag of just straight pieces that u take out and put together.
or maybe just the cross members, so u still have a good amount of flat bed area.

So when it’s stowed you basically have to deal with awkward chunks of metal in the bed?

Nice start. Once the real truck is available to measure, I would add braces that attach to the hardpoint roof rack attachment points to give it better stability.

I like the concept in the deployed position, depending on just exactly how sturdy the frame is. In stowed position, not so much. Either needs cover plates to smooth it back out or the widths need to be adjusted so it will go truly flat pack on the bottom of the bed.

Also not seeing that much advantage over semi-permanent sail side extension racks, similar to the one at the lithium refinery opening. Just my honest opinion, though without having seen either in the flesh yet.

You could keep it stored in the vault, or you could keep it in your garage till needed.
