Yes, if the vehicle is hooked to a battery, that’s exactly what you’ll do

And when it’s not hooked to a battery, you’ll look like the guy in the video
Um, the vehicle IS A BATTERY. Not at all sure what you are implying.

the vehicle has a 12v battery which, just like ICE vehicles, if unhooked will not allow the vehicle including ‘THAT OTHER BATTERY’ to operate

being ‘not at all sure’ of how Tesla’s (all EVs) operate will lead to a sort of confusion

but hey, I’m only trying to help

Here is the CT pic I was referring to. Clearly a damping or support lift strut. Nothing on the driver‘s side. Not sure how it would open unless there was something pushing from inside the truck under the dash to open. I saw nothing during the Munro CT dual motor frunk closeup. Pretty sure he would have said something if there was any indication of power opening.

Hmmmm....

In this clip from the photo that Munro used, I don't see whatever it is you have circled on the passenger side. I think what we are seeing in your photo within the circled area on the passenger side is the end of the curved arm, the shadowed outside edge of the lid, and the bumper that rests on the rectangular protrusion, the bumper resting place, that is just outside of the left side of the frunk insert. What I am saying that it is very common for many auto makers for years to offer the feature to open and close doors, etc.. with a push of a button or a gentle push. That is, assuming obviously there is a battery connected to supply a charge to do so. Am I missing something?

I could be mistaken and that's why there is nothing on the driver's side. I just focused on the side I circled and didn't notice it missing on the other side. My pic was from frunk sized money shot on this forum.

So how would this open? There has to be some type of push/pull mechanism and I don't see anything in the frunk area. Like I said there could be something hidden behind everything up under the windshield dash.

I think the motive mechanism is hidden behind the machinery you can see in the photo clip. Heaven help our checkbooks if that mechanism fails after the warranty period. Maybe if that happens I'll just cut off the "hood" like the old-school hotrods, yank out the liner and show off that Super Manifold V2 thing and the BAW motor to the crowds.

*48V battery. There is no 12V battery in the Cybertruck.
A habit that will take some time to forget...12V supplier components are not in the CT.

EDIT TO ADD:

Since inevitably folks will be confused.

The video shows an unpowered truck having its hood raised/lowered against resistance of the geared motor. If you’re familiar with this, it’ll be obvious. The video is for those who have to see for themselves (and, apparently, who have experience with moving an unpowered motor against its gearing).

Independent of the video, I am confirming the hood is powered.

Q&A:

It’s not a powered assist. It’s that these units being transported are not powered up (that’s why we see the 12v jump starters out before they drive them).

On the way up, the guy has to do an Olympic squat to raise the hood weight against the gearing.

On the way down, it moves slowly because of the weight-assist against the gearing.
I would not want to touch that steel after being under the strong Texas Summer sun for the day.

sure about that?

CyberTruck isn’t all 48v
Proof is in the pudding.

The Ecoflow battery pack they had in the frunk pictures only has a 12V and 110V output. They were using standard jumper cables though, so I'd say 100% there's a 12V battery in there that they plugged into the 12.6V 30A Ecoflow outlet.

This conversation has been had on the 48V thread, there's still a 12V battery, it's just that some of the larger power users are on 48V. All the electronics run on 12V or lower still.
