Bought a M3P in 2021 and the panel gaps were as good as my wife's Volvo. Absolutely not one gap that I had to take to Tesla to get resolved. I think that was an old issue that has been resolved for the most part.

It’s been resolved on the S, 3, X, and Y, but the CT is a whole new beast. They’ll correct it eventually, but the initial ramp might be quite gappy. Some people won’t mind, but the stainless steel panels really make the gaps stand out.

Admittedly, my 2020 3 is quite loud inside the cabin, however the newer Y is not (thicker glass in the Y I believe, so the seal is not to blame)

Although the wind noise wasn’t “bad”, the RPM Tesla wind noise reduction kit was so inexpensive that I bought one for our MY. It took about 2 minutes to install and certainly made a difference. I just rented a M3 and it was noticeably louder. I expect their road noise kit would help, too.

I’ve looked very closely at the Teslas around me. In my neighborhood and at Costco or on the road. I haven’t seen one with a fit or finish issue I would call “noticeable”. In talking to neighbors that are on their 2nd-4th Tesla, here is what I think.

-Teslas had panel gap and finish issues that were quite bad in their past.
-For the most part, (in production) those issues have been corrected to the point that Tesla is no worse, and probably better, than any of the other OEMs.
-Because of past issues, we are conditioned (partly be the naysayers) to be hypercritical of outside fit and finish. Kinda like when someone says your girlfriend‘s eyes are a bit too close together, now that is all you see and think about when you look at her.

I did look at a very new (no metal plates yet) US made SUV that was nearby. The panel gaps were all over the place, the glossy finish was anything but glass smooth, and inside, the fan knob was missing. Brand new car!
