This picture is messing with me. It feels to me like there is some sort of camera distortion going on in this picture. The dimensions all feel off. The rear tire looks considerably smaller then the front one, the front half of the vehicle seems too long compared to the back, ect.
yes.

Looks like the size is the same .. just a street tread With the suspension set to low.
Exactly!
Yeah, you have people overreacting and saying they’re going to sell their stock and give up the reservations over this pic. Lol.

There was another thread about these Pirelli Scorpion tires on the digital camo CT a few weeks ago. I still stand by what I said last month.

I really hope the CT doesn't come with Perelli Scorpians because the reviews weren't very good. Lots of complaints about poor traction and only lasting about 20,000 miles on Ford F150 and Mavericks and other pickups. I can only imagine how poorly they would last with a Cybertruck with way more power!

When you look at the comments, take note of mileage driven. Most of the good ratings were from people who hadn't put many miles on them. Here's a link to the comments page on Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/survey/Sur...rpion+ATR&fromTireDetail=true&tirePageLocQty=
yes, and we’d certainly hope people don’t have similar experiences with the CT

But this is a Model S Plaid powertrain, moving BEV truck weight, with no governor on acceleration or speed, and a nasty payload rating - how does it *not* chew through worthy tires?

in any event, as also discussed on that other thread, there are two key considerations to keep in mind:

First, even if these Pirellis perform like on the Rivian, to some degree that’s maybe just a problem of unreasonable expectations: people expect a truck that is THIS fast and THIS heavy and performs THIS well, with THIS payload, but then ALSO expect adequate tires to last like on an ICE 1/2 ton truck?

People with performance sports cars are not unfamiliar with chewing threw tires based on how one drives. I’ve got friends with cars that, if they chose, could eat through a performance tire in a single weekend at a track. The CT is advertised as a truck and a sports car in one, and these things don’t come together at no downsides.

Second, it’s been shown that some significant portion of tire failures on a Rivian is due to a quirk in its ride height settings. Specifically, when at highway speeds it squats so low the wheels go to negative camber - and so people with high highway miles see more tire failure of this sort.

Add someone with high highway miles with someone who drives heavy and fast, and rather than eating through a set of performance tires in a weekend at the track, they go in 20k miles.

We don’t know if Tesla will have a similar camber issue to the Rivian, and we’d expect Tesla to not have such a mistake built in. We’ll see.

But even if Tesla avoids that suspension mistake, for the CT and Rivian both I can’t help but think some portion of this will be unavoidable due to the nature of the vehicle’s performance, the tire qualities needed to make that performance safe, and so the expected longevity of such tires being much different than many are used to.
I don’t know, maybe now a dozen people will chime in and say they have a Model S Plaid that hasn’t needed new [performance model tire] in 120,000 miles, and they drive it hard.

maybe so. But even then I’d still be left wondering if their Model S Plaid is on 35” tires, with only 20” rims (and so large pliable sidewalls), with an H-rated load index, and a 115 speed rating?

it Could be that to change tire longevity issues, people would need to give up payload, speed, acceleration, breaking, and wheel/tire size.

or the other way around

Discount Tire: 285/65 R20 Tires - 18 tire results
TireRack (online version of Discount Tire): We found (10) tires for: 285/65R20

Versus 1 option for Rivian 21 inch (road), 2 or 3 for 22 inch (road), and a reasonable select for 20 inch ( both AT and road).

I really liked the Pirelli "Elect" series on my Model 3. Hoping for simiar positive experience for these on this Cybertruck which look like pavement-oriented tires. That said, I will need an AT tire for offroading and something suitable for winter.

I think the amount of triggered in here is amazing.

You guys.... It's tires. And wheels.

The bottom barrel ones never look good.

This incentivizes people to upgrade them.

Also, some of y'all out here like, I better get my 500 mile Cybertruck but it also better have mudding tires. Huh?
