My point is that if you want to only look at the lowest payload, you’ll fight against yourself.
well, conversely, my point is that one way in which I find the Rivian stats “whompy” is that recommended towing would move around based on the configurations and payload effects.

Rivian instead lists a single towing rating, then just seemingly ignores all its configuration payload effects.

see again the Lighting ER, with a low-end payload rating of ~1,900lbs, but matched to a 10K towing rating

and you’re right, the CT’s details once known may result in some equally whompy scenarios depending on configuration and dealer-installed options

but it’ll have a payload nearer 2,500lb for dual, and 2,250 for performance

and (because) 4WS for stability. And (because) a much longer wheelbase for stability.

so there’s less room for whomp?

Finally, a (hopefully) definitive answer to the question I've had.

Looks like I can put a full 4x8 sheet of plywood or drywall in the back lying flat.

That's one of the key definitions of a work truck, for me.

These specs don't align with M-D-Rs specs post on Twitter/X/YouTube. I don't believe it.

I bought a Model 3 earlier than you did, but I still own it. I've had nothing but a great driving experience and low cost of ownership with it for over 67k miles so far.

yeah, I just assume people relax into the reality that all manufacturers have their detractors, a range of customer experiences, and issues/benefits

I’ve owned Fird trucks for most of 30 years and had nothing but great experiences and reliability - normal ICE, Raptor, Lightning

others have their own valid anecdotes to the contrary

same is true of Tesla

car manufacturers are car manufacturers, let’s move on to interesting stuff

Except Tesla doesn't waste $billions on dealer networks and the MSM like legacy auto does, and instead uses it more wisely for innovation and advanced manufacturing which brings costs down while maintaining quality. Business models matter, because they determine what ultimately gets delivered to the customer for their money.

That said, even with optimal business model and advanced manufacturing, you can still have a 'quality culture problem' with employees where some of them are careless not valuing quality letting poor workmanship or defects pass. I think this latter scenario is likely the cause for the few problems we do see within Tesla.

Is the 72.8" with the tailgate up or down?

Also, 2kw is a bit low - not enough to run most single A/C travel trailers.

I already have one, the CT is it’s replacement. My Taco is a mid-size and CT was to be full size, or at least that was my impression. I was wrong.
Blame that on all the urban cowboys that wined because they have an inadequate garage. I’m personally fine with the size. My ? with a 6’ bed is just about perfect.

My comment is in response to your calling the 11k rating “whompy”. Not saying people should tow 15K, but that at the rates 11K, it does a perfectly good job. Limit is the battery range
I believe many tow ratings are set by braking capabilities. You have to be able to stop it, once it has momentum.

14-50 limited to 2 kWh kW? Seems low for a 14-50. 12 kWh kW seems more likely.
So what is that button thing below outlets? And why would a 220vlt plug be only 2kw. ? It's 12kw I bet
2Kw is a little weird. kind of silly to put in a 14-50, and only output ~8 amps. a standard 20 amp 120v outlet is 2.4kw.
Maybe the 120v outlets are 2kw each?
2 KW from a 14-50 would be an incredibly poor showing for Tesla's first V2L, essentially on par with what Rivian is delivering via 110V outlets. I personally just need ~ 3-4 KW to run my furnace blower and fridge during a power outage.

As I’ve had time to ponder it, we’re all in agreement TFL is silly and it doesn’t say 2kWh, but I also don’t think it says “12kWh” - that would be an odd label, on its own

I’m instead convinced it is labeling the outlets for consumer use

So “120V” up top

and “120V/240V” on bottom
