If the Cybertruck is so great, why does Tesla care about flippers?
Come on Taco? Think about it. The answers right there.

Hey where is Jellibean?

No. Each customer gets an MVPA emailed or given to them at purchase.

If a customer reads some copy of a different MVPA instead of reading their own, in the words of Jerry Ingvall, Travis Tritt, or Jeff Foxworthy, "...Here's your sign!"

I don't follow your point. The v20230201 purchase agreement was from my 2023 Q3 purchase (and was emailed to me). Would they go back and use a previous version on a future purchase? Why wouldn't they have updated the agreement as of today's date (or whenever this was changed) for future purchases?

Hey good news is they think they will deliver enough cybertrucks within 1 year that this wont be an issue after that.

I am not sure if the CT will be an upgrade from my Lightning. I believe it will be a step change from any truck I have owned but I should be able to decide.

2 million reservations calls for difficult choices though IMO from Tesla.

You know there are a lot of speculators and flippers holding those reservations so what is in the better interest of the whole.

I hope I love as much as I think I will.

FSD will drive my purchase decision on my other 3 reservations.

PS: Where is my event invite!!!!!

ELI5. If it’s so great, I would never want to sell it.
You have the right mindset but I bet at least 50% of those reservations are from speculators/flippers and they don't care about the CT for anything more then an perceived opportunity.

I'm in the camp of I should be able to sell my own vehicle to whomever for whatever reason. The only benefit for us here is that it will eliminate a portion of reservations.
Wait a minute. Do you not believe in consenting adults being able to enter into binding agreements that benefit both parties?

When you placed your Cybertruck reservation, you agreed it was for your personal use.

When you complete a purchase/sale agreement, you will be agreeing to that again, with more specific terms. If you don't like the terms of the agreement, you don't have to enter into it. Nothing gives you the right to purchase a Cybertruck on your terms, because you are not the party who designed, developed, manufactured and offered it for sale. When you are the party holding the goods, you can do what you want with said goods, including selling them with restrictions.

This is basic contract law and many other manufacturers have had similar clauses for their high demand vehicles. I welcome it in this instance to create an orderly market and help early reservationists move to the front of the line as quickly as sensibly possible, without getting bumped by people trying to leverage the fact that there is a line by scalping for a higher price.

I applaud Tesla being pro-active on this point as we have waited long enough! Screw those rich bastards that didn't have the wherewithall to pre-order early! A line is a line, not a license to sell your place to the highest bidder. We all knew that going into this, at least those of us who read the reservation agreement knew that!

Someone shared this on the Cybertruck Reddit page claiming it was found in a recent Model Y purchase agreement. No insight into validity but I’ve heard of other manufacturers doing similar before so not out of the realm of possibilities. Thoughts?

Personally it would be good news to me because I don’t intend to resell mine after purchase. Maybe this will help slim down the line a bit.

YES! This is exactly what’s needed. Get rid of scalpers and people just trying to make money off of other people’s hard work.

Why does it bother you? They paid for the truck. It’s theirs. You’ll get yours when the time is up
So, with that rationale, are you cool if someone went on ticketmaster and bought every seat (or even a dozen seats) for a popular show and then sold it for profit? I mean... the tickets are "theirs" so why does it matter what they do with them. Orr... in my example I stated in my original post... what if someone came into Toys R Us and bought every brand new PlayStation in stock, while many others are waiting in line and then sold them for profit. Do you believe just because they got their first that they can do whatever they want with them.... Meanwhile the public is pissed off because the purchaser wasn't even interested in the product.

Come on, man. Please don't try to justify the position of scalpers and flippers to me. If there is not high demand for a product, then I am cool with people doing that. However, there are 1M+ people in line and quite a lot of them are interested in the truck itself, not filling their wallet.

Yes, that’s how capitalism works. They take on the risk of scalping. If they fail, they lose a lot of money too
