Is the price on the chart reflected accurately with the extended range? If you were to select the extended range then it would not qualify for the tax credit and thus making the price of the CT AWD $96,000... ?

I have that and some more over here, including wrt Lightning stats:

https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cybertruck-real-competition-comparison.10025/

Also, I take issue with a few of the characterizations in the app chart. Not that they’re incorrect from an OEM-marketing angle perspective (for each truck), but instead that I would rather know the consumer-relevant specs

eg Tesla’s max ground clearance of 17” is a bit misleading, while Rivian’s marketing figures for the R1T cargo room are - in my opinion - more than misleading (or at least not apples to apples)

You purchase separately after the fact so the tax credit still applies to original purchase, but tough comparison since in this situation you actually lose a lot of bed storage whereas the Rivian is integrated. Then again, having the option later is a plus.

is it 100% clear that this can be ordered and installed after the fact, or that Tesla will make it readily available in that context?

i tend to be in agreement with that, but on the other hand i independently know there will be several optional accessories that are factory-only configurations, and given the sometimes vague and confusing nature of the marketing vs the reality im left hoping for more certain clarification of whether (or how readily) this extender will be available to purchased and installed afterwards.

Good point, definitely could go either way or even not at all. Just basing my comment on what we have heard to date which was that it could be purchased and installed at SC and takes about 1/3 of bed. Seems like something you would have installed after the fact because of the SC install versus factory install, but who knows. $16k is a lot of money for something most people would only use to it’s potential a handful of times a year and reduces the cargo utility so much.

I think they are intentionally pricing it so there is near zero take rate and then they can justify not actually making it at all so my guess is it does not happen. If they made it something much more versatile like something the owner could easily or semi easily remove/install and use as a power wall for most of the year then I think the take rate might be pretty decent.

Logically, you could get the dual without ($79,990) and get the tax credit. I'm mea the price is $10 under the limit. :) That would be such a weird miss if it was factory install only vs after the purchase at the service center.

Chart is missing Payload capacity:

Rivian - 1,700lbs
Cybertruck - 2,500lbs

Don't forget the Rivian charges $2500 most paint and $2000 for non-black interior color, plus $3600 for the off road package, plus $1000 for the black off road rims. These popular options which most Rivian owners go for, could add over $9000 on top of the base.

Having the extender shortens your bed to around 4ft too, so the chart should reflect that you will be down perhaps 6" compared to the Rivian. Still you're wanting every mile of range to tow, so you probably care less about bed length.

No, because the Range Extender battery can't be ordered until it's available. I think Tesla is planning on end of 2024 for that. Who knows, they may cancel it due to low demand.

If accessories will push the price of any vehicle past the IRA limits for the $7,500 tax credit, just buy the truck without the accessories and add them later.

If they make the extender with the capability to take it out and use it like a Powerwall when you don't need the extra range and have an owner-install option, I'd buy it without a second thought.

CT only JUST takes the WIN .... Looks like they are equal in towing max @ 11000 lbs. That is, unless there's a BLOODY BIG 'sled' involved. I know which one Santa would choose .... he's been checking the list ( twice )

I kinda of find these comparisons pointless.

You can go online today and order a Rivian R1T (or a Ford Lightning)
You can go online today and put your name if for a Cybertruck, and you will have to wait at least 3 years go get one.

So it doesn't matter how they compare. Joe can't get a CT for about 3 years. But he can get one of the others and drive them right away.

So, compare only what you can buy today from Vendor A to what you can buy today from Vendor B.
