While watching Jason Cammisa's podcast about CT, he brought up a good point (1:07:00) which I had not thought about. The slim space where the headlights sit is bound to get packed with snow, ice, slush, etc. Maybe to the point where light barely comes out of there. I live in Canada so we have that to think about. I wonder if Tesla's winter testing accounted for that. Thoughts?

Honestly it's not gonna deter me from buying it anyway but you know, it's good to think about every detail I guess.

I remember seeing complaints about that on the Rivian forums, before their admins made participating in that forum absolutely unlivable.

It's a valid concern. Time will tell. There's tricks like hydrophobic films and such. But the real solution is enough heat to anti-ice that area. No idea if CTs lamps will run as cool as the Rivians apparently do.

I think aero is the contributing factor to keeping snow off the headlamp lenses when you're driving. Snow blows off the front if you're driving at speed. Icy slush spray or freezing rain can accumulate regardless of speed so Cybertruck or not, you're going to get iced up headlamps. I saw one video where a tiny blurb was mentioned about the aero designs of the front, specifically the headlamps and front corner side markers, and how they flow air over the tires, so there's some design thought going on there.

I was thinking about this too, and probably in a future update, they will probably just move that light forward or add a heated strip or both. We will see how it performs.

Perhaps the top running lights will reflect off of the snowy ground in front of you and do the job perfectly.

in the Great North when there is heavy snowstorm with heavy wet snow and traffic barely moving there is no wind to blow snow off. even traffic lights get covered in snow. So we shall see how that works out.

Either way a bit different from the snow (or mud) issues with Rivian - where surface ice/snow would build and not melt off - this is instead a 2” shelf under the 2” tall lights

I saw a CT oncoming on the other side of the freeway at night a few weeks ago. This was before the delivery event and subsequent videos which clarified that the full-width light is in fact a DRL and not the headlights. Regardless of what you call it, on the CT I saw, that upper light was bright and white (but not blinding) and I didn’t even notice the real headlights. For a while at least, that pattern will be even more distinctive than Rivian’s lights as we start seeing CT’s on the road.

Yes, very hard for snow to cover every bit of the running lights at top. It will take care of 99% of situations, but Tesla is required by some regulation to have "headlights", so these little "flashlight" bulbs down low are the headlights when the light bar is doing 94% of the work.
