Run it through the car wash? That’s what I’m planning to do. Just get the unlimited monthly pass and drive through it daily. lol
That’s perfect! Lol

Fingerprints are body oil and dirt. Wash with Dawn hand dish detergent and water in the shade. Rinse with soft water (not hard tap water). Blow off excess water with a leaf blower. Wipe dry with good quality microfiber cloths. That's what I do for SS appliances (less the leaf blower!). I'm a chemical engineer and spent a career at a cleaning products company.
Sounds like a good plan. Only thing I have wondered about is, are microfiber cloths a fossil fuel gimmick? Cotton cloth always worked fine for me. Microfiber cloth is made of a blend of polyester and nylon. They will breakdown into plastic waste as we wash them over and over and become part of our cancer causing environment.

Great info! Thanks!

Do you think a hose adapter like this will be successful in turning hard tap water into soft water, or is something more complex required?

I was wondering about this. I don't have a water softener floating around. LOL If I had a CT, what do I do, buy bottled water from the supermarket? ?

I've seen whole house water softeners, I assume there are smaller versions. They need to remove iron and dissolved minerals I believe.

No, that is a particulate (sand, grit, dirt, pieces of plastic, etc) filter. Typically these filters remove 5-50 micron sized particles. Hard water (calcium and magnesium carbonate) are much, much smaller molecules and require a water softener. If you have a house this is doable. I have a soft water tap in the garage, and soft water for the whole house. I've never asked commercial car washes if they use soft water. My Model S is always hand washed. Perhaps I'm anal.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I just bought one. My wife has a ton of plants outside she waters and apparently plants like filtered water better than tap water. SO, if this isn't good enough for washing the Cybertruck, at least it can be good for feeding the plants. lol

Well, that sounds pretty complicated for what I can afford. Our tap water is pretty good, but was hoping that this filter would make it better. Well darn...

I find polyester microfiber to work a lot better. I used to use cotton towels. You have a point about the environmental impact.

We already run our two Model Ys through automated car washes now (after 3 years paint is fine so far), so for us it’ll just be a continuation of same routine.

This one says reduces hard water for car washing, but I don’t know how effective:

AQUA CREST Inline Water Filter, Dedicated for Car Washing, Yard Cleaning, Reduce Hard Water Spots, Soften Water, Upgraded Formula with 1 Flexible Hose Protector https://a.co/d/8h8OoM0

Wash off bulk dirt with something like a dawn/water solution, and then hand wipe with Isopropyl alcohol. Or, shell out some extra dough to PPF wrap it and don't worry about any fingerprints.
