Yeah I plan on letting it go for at least 2 years then maybe a clear PPF?
Let it go as long as you like*, it'll shine right up with a little detailing.

*promptly rinse off caustic substances like road salt, bird droppings, etc.

I suggest someone get it very clean first using Dawn or a low suds auto wash, and then try - "HOPE'S Perfect Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish, Streak-Free Self-Polishing Formula, - Blocks Fingerprints."

I have a feeling that might work well and also lower the fingerprinting problem.

I call %100 BS. The OP has been on the forum for a month. And if you notice, there’s been quite a few brand new members that are trying to pee in everyone’s Cheerios.
I think we’ve been invaded by the FUD BOTS.

Out of Spec Detailing found odd spots on a new Cyber that I think only Barkeepers Friend would remove.

You are never going to find odd spots on stainless steel than only Barkeepers Friend would remove.

That's a ridiculous belief. In fact, the whole video on cleaning Cybertruck is ridiculous because he washes with an auto shampoo and never rinses it. That means there is a film of dried soap on the surface pretty much leaving any further findings meaningless. Because chemicals react. What was he thinking? This is not how valid learnings are created.

The whole Youtube for clicks has become so ridiculous.

I agree. The Cybertruck is VERY threatening to a lot of people for various reasons. It's comical to see how much they doth protest, me thinks.

I should have said or similarly abrasive cleaner or polish. He has a number of videos trying different products but certainly not every product in the world. Point is these spots didn't seem to wash off and needed some abrasion.

For sure there are many places in the country where magnesium chloride and other salts are used to keep them clear of ice in the wintertime.

This can cause a lot of salt spray build up on any vehicle and even periodic clean off of the vehicle can be difficult when outdoor temps stay below freezing for days or weeks at a stretch.

I'm curious to see how CT will handle these situations as it appears Tesla is not offering any kind of corrosion warranty.

In New England in the 90's nobody wanted to own a Honda because they had a very bad reputation for rusting out in a short amount of time due to lack of anti corrosion measures in combination with the use of tons of salt on the roads.

BARD, Can I get an executive summary of this article ^

Sure, here is an executive summary of the article:
  • This article is about the passivation of stainless steels, a process that creates a protective oxide layer on the surface to prevent corrosion.
  • It discusses different types of stainless steels and how their chromium content affects their passivation behavior.
  • The article introduces a new passivation process developed by NGL that is effective on both austenitic and martensitic steels, unlike traditional methods that only work well on one type.
  • This new process is based on citric acid and does not contain any harmful CMR compounds, making it a more environmentally friendly option.
  • Tests show that the new process is effective in removing contaminants and creating a corrosion-resistant passive layer on both austenitic and martensitic steels.

Sure, here is an executive summary of the article:
  • This article is a guide to specifying surface treatments for stainless steel.
  • It covers various cleaning and passivation methods for different applications.
  • Some methods, like grinding, can damage the surface, while others, like passivation in nitric acid baths, create a protective oxide layer.
  • Pickling treatments remove surface defects.
  • The article also details inspection methods and provides contact information for further help.
