Eh. Are these toys for the rich too? The fact of the matter is much has changed since 2019.

Makes my point. CT 20% more than the top spec F150. ICE is looking good and no range anxiety.

a better comparison would be to a TRX or Raptor - since the performance of the CT is so amazing. From that perspective it’s well priced - as that’s exclusive exotic vehicle territory, not a F150 alternative

I like @cvalue13 's theory.

They meant. Based on how many people are ordering FS.

When we open the non FS configurator soon.

We will immediately sell out for 24.

(Paraphrasing)
We could maybe see some non FS

I don't expect them to produce 100,000 in 2024.

My rough math is:

2 million pre-orders.
Only 50% choose to proceed with the purchase at all in the next 2-3 years due to price increase.
1,000,000 potential orders, 25% of those will still be RWD, which doesn't arrive until 2025.
This leaves 750,000 potential orders for 2024.
5% seems like a good FS take rate, which comes to 37,500 FS orders in 2024.
37500 units in 2024 is attainable with ease, meaning i believe production rate outpaces FS demand by the end of summer and therefore, regular units will be sold around this time. With every day that passes in 2024, even potential FS buyers might be more inclined to wait.

We shall see who is correct. :D
One other wrench in the equation - of the 2million pre-orders, how many got their $100 back? (i.e. got another truck, got tired of waiting, etc). Anyone have a guess? I bet 200k at least got their money back or and not gonna follow through with their multiple orders (3-5+)

I'm looking past the FS. Once regular units start rolling off the line the CT becomes a good value compared to the F150.

I do get people's frustration with the FS units though. Hopefully the ramp goes quickly and we get to the regular builds sooner rather than later.

The AWD is actually more range… but costs, yes
Yes, and many people who preordered tri motor in 2019 are switching to AWD because the only benefit is now 0-60 time. This tired argument has very little meaning. There would be a lot more tri motors selling if they had delivered on the 500 miles of range without the extender, even at 120k.

Uh….60 & 70K vs $100 & &120K!
Please. If one doesn’t see this as off the charts then they drunk on the kool aid

And don’t care about FSD included yada yada. It’s not usable. A truck that was supposed to disrupt the ICE competition has now only made the value proposition of ICE much stronger.

for now this is a toy for the rich.
New truck, tons of new production techniques and technology.. a very hard to scale product.
Elon does care about FSD and its potential regardless whether you don’t find value in it.

They have a bunch of amenities to “justify” the price. I think it’s too expensive for me, but the prices will come down. The battery tech will get better.

If that doesn’t make you happy, bail on it. I will gladly take one less person in front of me. Enjoy your 150. They are great trucks

It’s true, but the people designing, making, producing, costing found it not worth it right now. If putting a 200kw battery sense manufacturing-wise, financially, etc. they would have done it.

I was hoping for the 500, but i already have 2 teslas and am used to around 300 miles of range. I don’t tow enough to need, so for my use case, it still works. I would love closer to 400miles and will consider the extender.. we’ll see how that plays out.

I was just replying that you said they didn’t hit the range.. they did on the AWD. They didn’t on the Tri. If that causes you lots of consternation, i get it.
Now please cancel and move me up one ?

You are not following my point. There’s plenty of buyers for the current avail CT. It’s just a different market segment.

BTW: don’t want an f150
I bought a TRX in 2021 after the CT was delayed. It’s worth more than i paid for it. I’m looking to swap for a CT beast when my # comes up 11274xx which I hope is soon.

There's certainly a premium on the Cybertruck but agree that the landscape has certainly changed. Add in almost 20% inflation since 2019 and the fact that new car prices have increased above inflation rate then you get a 100k Cybertruck. Let's be honest the price is 100k, the 20k are accessories bundled in if you want to get early access.

I assume any nonfoundation cybertrucks that may be produced in 2024 would be offered to early res #s who declined the FS. Almost all of those would be from reveal night.

you chose the extremes (maxed trim with all accessories) in an attempt to represent the normal trend. Do you understand this is a logic fallacy?

If you don't want to buy the expensive special edition then you can wait. If the truck is too expensive for you overall, then you can chose not to buy it. I'm tired of seeing grown men here complain about this.

this is the only rational interpretation, especially given what I know separately

Put differently, here’s the point:

“we sent out [5,000] invites for these trucks priced at a $20K premium, and got [X]% uptake; based on that, when we next send out [30,000] invites, at MSRP, we expect a 2[X]% uptake, which very quickly means we’re sold out for 2024 deliveries”

anyone thinking otherwise is off base

In the earnings call they said demand is off the hook. In fact they supposedly pondered raising the price. Yet some here think Tesla is going to reduce the price (by selling non FS). Does that make any sense ? They are literally saying we have no reason to sell cheap at this time.
