Just got a email from Tesla -
"We matched you with a Tesla Certified Installer who will reach out to you to schedule a site visit. Their contact information is provided below. As a reminder, All-Wheel Drive orders are eligible for free Powershare Home Backup hardware; Cyberbeast orders will also receive an installation credit of up to $4,000.*

After installation is complete, the Home Backup feature will be available following a software update expected to release in June. In the meantime, you will still be able to charge your Cybertruck at home using the Wall Connector"

I am AWD owner, already paid $12K for non-existing FSD, but do not want to spend any more for future product...by spending over $4K now. Questions-
1. anyone already did this installation in CA? if yes, how much did you pay?
2. can I do it by myself? I believe nobody get a powershare hardware upon delivery, so likely Tesla might not allow us to do, but checking just in case.

Not available until June.....with Tesla timelines that is maybe July/Aug?
I would ask for confirmation on that because there are posts on X about being already having it and it kickin on when the power goes out. June is 4 months from now.

From technical perspective you could likely do it yourself. I have installed 10+ transfer switches, a dozen or more Tesla chargers, and a few whole home backup systems.
The problem is that Tesla likely needs to "activate" it from their end and unless you go through their installer who likely kicks back X amount, you likely can't use the hardware.

Yeah, expect 4 to 6K in the Bay Area for the install. Unfortunately, for the time being, Tesla is tightly controlling hardware distribution as well so, even if you’ve got the skills to install it, you won’t be able to get a hold of the hardware anytime soon I suspect. Mine was installed a few weeks ago and while it sucks that, the back up feature will not be available until probably March (according to Tesla a few weeks ago…), it is nice having a wall charger finally rather than the 220 plug I was using with my previous cars.

The email I got today says the software will be June. its already delayed by 3months in a few weeks?? I am not sure if we are talking the same thing, but if yes, not a good sign.

Yeah we’re probably talking about the same thing. There was no warning email about a software delay when mine was installed 3 weeks ago :) Sounds like the target date may have slipped from march to june. Lame.

maybe they installed PS at employee's site and found some problem? the email from Tesla clearly says June.

Thanks for the info, sorry to hear that your looking at 4+ months before being able to utilize that.

I will likely opt out of the PowerShare offer. The 6 months of "free" Supercharging will be more valuable to me if I can make travel plans to take advantage of it.
