I know people that have exclusively charged their free SuoerCharge-eligible vehicles. We’ll see if road-tripping raises any issues, lol! I don’t think so. But maybe powering your home would. Any type of commercial use definitely would, understandably.

I drive 1,000 miles a month just to get to work, so there is that. Any because the GVWR is 7,500 lbs. I can knock a dollar a mile off my taxes for driving it to work as I’m required to be in a courthouse every single day that happens to be 26 miles from my office.

The CT w/ free SuperCharging is a good arrangement for my situation.
I don’t have an Airstream, just a tiny TigerMoth and unlike you, my commute to both my office and primary courthouse is less than a half a mile from home.

But, based on your handle, you’re in Arizona and, clearly, you get - like I do - the value of free supercharging when you’re towing and actually putting miles on such a vehicle.

Maybe it’s a just desert Southwest thing, but some of these guys act like they can’t even fathom how somebody would ever want to supercharge, let alone see it as a sensible value add or need.

It’s weird how much mocking and derision people are willing to hurl (through their ignorance - mind you) of how people outside of their experience might live. Glad to see someone else who gets it.

Major kudos to you for your approach in responding to these folk, btw. I’ve never been one to suffer fools gladly. I like your style.

Thank you!

I believe a lot of people do not realize the distances we deal with in the Western United States. There are VAST distances between locations in the West. Many of our counties are larger than some eastern STATES.

The scale is drastically different.

Cheers, Counselor! May the court ever rule in your favor. Happy CT-ing!!

Greetings, salutations and the same to you, Good Sir!

PS - I’ve got property in Kingman - where on earth would I be able to go if I were one of these guys claiming to have ‘never once supercharged their Teslas in the 200 years that they’ve owned them?’ I can’t even GET to/from that property without supercharging, ffs! ??‍♂

But seriously, is there any precedent for this by any other car company? Wouldn’t this make you look foolish, feckless and not even a believer in your own flagship product if it was literally anyone else, at any point in their product or business life cycle?
It's certainly odd behavior, but there's also a slightly different dynamic in play here with the direct to consumer business model. Other vehicle manufacturers don't accept trades, their independently owned and operated dealerships do and those trade prices are highly influenced by wholesale/auction prices and depreciation. It may simply be at this point that Tesla's margin on the Cybertruck is so high that it doesn't make economic sense for Tesla to accept trades at a price point that wouldn't make for really bad press. You would think they would just wholesale trades to auction, but it feels like that market isn't terribly stable for the Cybertruck at the moment.

They achieved profitability with the Cybertruck really quickly. There's got to be a high margin to have achieved that.

How do you get a dollar a mile? Standard mileage rate was $0.67 in 2024.

Thank you. I’ve worked hard for nearly 40 years and I’m fortunate. I’ve given back to my community and nation, including overseas service in the Marines. I have a 30% disability rating from my service. I went to law school and for many years I’ve served as counsel to poor people accused of crimes.

Towing my Aistream thousands of miles for free with my CT equipped with a range extender is brilliant IMHO. But to each his own! I’m living my best life, lol!
good for you, thank you for your service and don't listen to the naysayers.

I am not saying that it makes financial sense BUT my family is going to road-trip the hell outta our AWD CT w/ free SuperCharging.

I don’t yet have a response from Tesla on the trade-in value, so there is that. I might yet attempt a private sale if the value offered is less than what I want.
TL/DR: I’m eating some depreciation to get “tactical grey” and free SuperCharging for as long as I own it. And it looks like I’m being allowed to trade in my “old” CT with 16,000 miles.

I just ordered a FFS cyberbeast with free charging and traded in. Their offer was low by any standard but the tax credit made it palatable. pick mine up next week

What tax credit? 2024s don't qualify, and Foundation is over the MSRP limit anyway.
(Unless this is for business under 45W)

It doesn’t make straight-up financial sense. Except I’m getting a range extender and plan to road trip the shit out of it hauling an Airstream.
It makes more economical sense to me to sell the airstream and buy a Pebble RV that has its own drive train to both assist the Cybertruck while towing (thereby increasing range) without needing an extended Cybertruck battery, as well it has its own auto hitch (really cool to see) and camp park modes with auto leveling, along with V2H support.

I have one on preorder and in the meantime will just use our Cyber tent come spring for some outdoor adventure.

Check it out, if interested. To me it’s like an in the future Airstream but with all the “Cyber” tech perks.
The inside is nothing to sneeze at as well with all sorts of amenities.

For me it will be a Total off grid camping experience without needing RV powered camp sites.

Except nobody’s getting a Pebble anytime soon. I have a preorder as well. With your plan he’ll be doing nothing for 2-3 years (minimum). The time for living is now.

Maybe so, he can still utilize his Airstream - just as I too would, in the meantime Pebble is moving forward at a rapid pace to release the production model Tomorrow. So maybe not your informed 2-3 years.

PS: See attached screenshot of an email I just received Friday.

Yeah. Same. ?? I also have an Aptera pending and they’ll do the same this week. Still, if he got in line now, he’ll be lucky to get one in the timeframe I outlined. Lucky!
