So dropped off the CT to Tesla Service in New Orleans for a Tonneau Rework and a non functioning rear passenger side parking light. Drop off was easy and I had my choice of a Model S Plaid or a Model X loaner. So far so good. The app says the CT should be ready tomorrow. Will update with results.
Glad to see this getting fixed becoming the norm, a VAULT should not get water in it.
Did you go for the X or the S for your loaner?

Very excited got mine last week and looks great now! Never got to inspect the weather seal under the appliqué before I took it in and will prob wait till warm weather to do some water tests and even consider trying to seal it myself. It does seem like I’m not seeing water dripping down the back but only checked once.

I went for the X because it is easier to get in/out of as I am a tall person. They didn’t say if the X was a plaid or not and there were no badges. It does have “Insane” mode and another option for a drag strip mode. Is that common for a non Plaid X?

Finally did my water intrusion test today. (I still have the gap) Sprayed all over, hard and soft, directly into gap, rolled tons of water over it and barely got a drop in the bed. My fix was the rubber gasket seal referenced earlier on the YouTube guy did. I did it myself and works well. As suspected, that last missing slat didn’t control the water entering. It’s more aesthetic for sure. That rubber seal was the culprit on mine. Now, I might still have them fix since, aesthetically, would look cleaner. Not sure yet.

I took my truck in for service for the gap. Couple of weeks later it was ready for pickup. SC installed the extra piece. Upon pickup and inspection, the gap was gone, but the entire tonneau system was not functioning. SC said to leave the truck and they'll trouble shoot it.

They messaged a couple of days later and stated a new tonneau system was installed.

I went to pickup the truck and I told them the gap was now there again. SC said it was "within spec...the new tonneau has a smaller gap" I drove it home. After a couple of car washes and rainy weather I documented there was water in the bed.

Fast forward a couple of weeks later, another service appointment was made. Upon inspection from "Main" technician, he said the replaced tonneau and the new gap was within spec, and the water in the bed was normal...

Is the gap normal?

The gap has a rework service code, attaching url here. Gap can definitely be fixed. I really don’t think the gap fixes the water ingress, the rubber gasket does. This is more aesthetic. Your service “fix” is my worry lol. Take in a perfectly functioning tonneau and get back a hassle lol.

This is my concern. I have an appointment this Friday to have the gap fixed.

Just dropped off my FSCT AWD for the gap.

I had a gap before this. Tesla replaced the entire tonneau cover in December 2024. No gap initially, but it came back, haha!!

Brought it in last week and they said they’d order the part to close the gap. We’ll see how it goes!!

At least I got a MX Plaid for a loaner!!
