Hello all, this is my first post here and you guys have been very very helpful already. I purchased my CT and took delivery last Wednesday afternoon, in Oklahoma City. At that time, a winter storm had just dumped ice and snow on the city, everything was pretty much shut down, and the ambient temp was in the single digits, not typical for OKC.

Anyway, as you might imagine, neither the sales guy nor I were really hot on doing an extensive inspection in those conditions. I took it home and the city thawed out a couple of days later. I took it to my PPF guy for film/tint/ceramic and on Sunday morning when i piced it up, he alerted me to a blemish on the right side passenger door; it looks like someone tried to buff out a scratch or blemish and they left an almost perfectly round patch where the finish is shiny... and it REALLY stands out with the car cleaned up; when the light hits it just right it lights up like christmas, and when the light is hitting the door such that the door is lit up, then this spot turns really dark. It's very obvious, moreso than my pictures can capture.

I called the OKC cservice center and the guy (same dude from last wednesday) said the best bet was to use the app on my phone and schedule a service appointment. The first available service isn't until March 20th! I can't see any way that they can fix this other than to replace the door or the stainless panel on the door. I hope they're not thinking that they can use a power tool and somehow blend it in; it's under PPF now (my film guy told me he'd do the new one for me gratis).

Is there another way to go about this that is possibly more timely? Do i need to worry about them trying to blame my film guy or me for it? Or that since i signed to take delivery, its my problem? As it stands, best case scenario is that i wait until March 20th, take it in, they say "no problem, but we've got to order the door/panel, it will be here in 6 weeks, then I have to make another service appointment (booked out for at least 3 weeks); at that point, we could've made a baby in the time it took to get there!

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions that might be helpful in getting this resolved more quickly? Thanks in advance for any/all helpful replies.

It is too bad that you decided to do all those things to the truck before going over it but the SC is right about scheduling a service call. You just have to decide what you are going to do. If the problem is under the PPF then any solution will have that being removed. A real PPF pro would have cleaned the truck and noted the issue before beginning the wrap.

Most likely they will intend to re-texture it with a sanding regimen and blend. So yea, appointment and will have to remove that PPF before hand.

My service center buffed the entire panel.. not just one spot. (Rear sail panel)

and they replaced an entire door because the scratch was too deep..(only after trying to buff/resurface)

entire left side of my truck was damaged upon delivery and both cant-rails

All looks new currently..

Wow way more round than I had pictured based on your description, like others have said will likely need completely refinishing of that panel. If they do that make sure the adjacent panels don't look different.

tis a shame but it's steel so they can refinish the side - likely necessary to match. I would have held off on applying PPF after finding that or if you plan to keep the PPF on long term just let it go, may not be worth the hassle.

They will have to do a bit of sanding to remove that tool mark.

Really? So he washed the CT, found the very obvious blemish (your words) and didn’t tell you? Or he did and you told him to go ahead anyway? I am a bit confused but it is your car and situation.

It’s standard practice for wrap shops to take before and after pics—specifically for this reason. Ask them for intake pictures. I’m skeptical that the truck was delivered like that, but, also wouldn’t be surprised if it was. ?

Either way, it’s a fixable problem so no sweat—put the onus on Tesla either way and it’ll be covered under warranty.

Yeah, that needs to be fixed by Tesla. The sooner you submit the service appt request the better…and load it up with anything else you may have found. As long as it’s in there early, you can choose to have it fixed later (at least that’s the convo I just had last week with my service center).

They usually say 48 hours or 100 miles, whichever comes first (but I’ve been told 24 hours or 100 miles too).
