Way to customize range for Cybertruck when towing a trailer

Is there a way via Tesla or a totally different app to specify a max range vs % of battery remaining to next charging location?

I'm needing to drive from the North East (Ohio) to CA to pick up a travel trailer and come back. Decently concerned about range given I'll prob be going through the mountains and the colder temps. Trying to remove some range anxiety and would prefer if I can specify max miles for a trip (100'ish).

I know the CT had an update where the truck will overtime to learn the trailer, dynamics, etc to come up with a more realistic range; but assuming this will take some decent time. Thanks for any ideas and insights ahead of time.

The ABRP app isn’t bad for customized trip planning in advance. I’d start with a 65mph reference consumption of 800wh/mi assuming an average sized travel trailer.

Once you hook up and go, you’ll start getting accurate estimates in the truck very quickly, it doesn’t take multiple trips.

Recent update allows you to enter trailer dimensions which will help with range estimation.
I think the trip planner only allows setting an arrival SOC, but you could set trailer parameters to worse than reality to be conservative and increase nunber/length of charging stops.
The nav will automatically add charging when driving if you are using more energy than estimated, and you can add chargers as waypoints too.

how many miles is that? I went to FL from Long Island NY and charged 12 times, about 11-1200 miles with a 3200lbs TT. It was a Casita, which have a rounded frontal area that might help a little with aerodynamics. On the way back at a slightly lower average speed, I was able to get 175 mile range on two tanks (of electrons, of course.) Speed is key. If you are doing 80 while towing, it might be as low as 100 miles per tank.
Sometimes I would charge at 20-40% as I didn't want to charge is busy areas, like near a city so I didn't have to unhook. Only unhooked one time, each way!

You can use ABRP and set the wh/mile to 1,000 or so. With the temps and elevation I would plan roughly on 80miles of range or so.

I towed 7500 pounds from Florida to Iowa and back. Got about 150 miles range from 300.

The new update is a big help. When you plug your trailer in and then select your saved trailer profile it adjust the power consumption based on past drives with that trailer.
Just figured that out yesterday because I switched trailer profiles and my range changed.
Tesla implements things that make so much sense but I never thought about them before. Love it!

I was trying various settings last night after posting with ABRP.

Total route is about 2,650 miles. Using ABRP with 800-1,000 wh\mi and 15% remaining battery to arrive at chargers, looking around 50-55 charges. The distances between chargers range from a mere 21-25 miles to 100 miles at the longest. Possibly, I can get better while on the road and the truck is learning better about the truck. Also not sure if the very low mileage charges are possibly up mountains which makes sense.

Mind posting which trailer you have to compare design\aerodynamics. 150 miles wouldn't be pretty good, but not sure how mine will stack against yours.


Any other ideas or suggestions, will glad accept and try.

I did look a the Casitas too as we were looking for a fiberglass trailer specifically. Wifey wanted something on the larger side (that wasn't Oliver), so we got the bigfoot. Planning on doing 50-55 MPH to try and maximize distance between chargers.

Total distance is 2,650. Guessing the weight with batteries, filled propane, etc to be 6,000-6,500. Strongly considering nighttime travel to help eliminate the need to unhook some much.

If you get a hundred miles per charge, it will be 26 charges.

I'm going to be pulling a Coleman pop-up this summer. How does the rear wheel steering affect backing the CT up? My normal backing, fixed rear axle, is with one hand on the wheel at the 6 o'clock position and backing with slight turns off the wheel. How will the rear wheel steering affect me? Will I have to learn to back up all over again?

I've found backing up with the Cybertruck is a dream. While I go back and forth from the camera display (all views on) and the mirrors, I use one of them as my main reference, then just look at the other for a quick view. The perspective is a little different and it takes me a second to adjust..

The only thing I've had to be careful of with the rear wheel steering while towing is the quick turns. It's possible for me to even jack knife even moving forward with my short tongue trailers if I don't pay attention. I just try to take it easy and not rush.

I've towed a lot and haven't towed with anything I'd rather use than the Cybertruck.

None of my towing has been more than 100 or so miles per day, so charging hasn't been an issue for me at all.

Weve towed our boat (30ft trailered, 7.5k lbs) 350 miles one way and averaged 130 miles of range from 100 to 0. Make sure to max your tires to 65 PSI itll help a bit.

15% planned reserve seems high. I usually plan to 5% or less and check there is a charger somewhere at the 75-90% leg distance that can be used as a backup. By that point on each leg, you’ll have a very accurate estimate of actual efficiency that day and see if your arrival % is trending up or down.
