Recall: exterior trim / body panel detaching issue (46,096 Cybertrucks affected)

The company confirmed that it added up 46,096 Cybertrucks, which represent all Cybertrucks in the US.

Tesla describes the exact issue with the cantrail trim falling off the vehicle:


The remedy involves replacing the cant rail assembly with “one that meets durability testing requirements.”

The difference with the old trim is that the new one will have a better adhesive assembly and “a stud welded to the stainless panel with a nut clamping the steel panel to the vehicle structure.”

In the recall notice, Tesla said it hadn’t implemented the remedy to vehicles in production yet, but it plans to “on or around March 21, 2025.”

Glad they went with a nut and weld instead of just more adhesive, mechanical connections always better.

Which panel is allegedly affected? Being that we still have not received our light bar after a July delivery I find it difficult to believe that any recall would be quickly implemented.

And yes, this would have devastating effects for all of us who have wrapped our trucks.

I was just told you need to schedule the install service first then they order your light bar. Getting mine next week.

Might be something mobile service can do, but procedure does call for two people.

I tried that several times at several different centers and it was a no go.

Have you tried scheduling the light bar with a service call? I hadn't heard anything and added "Accessory install: light bar" to a service call and that prompted them to order my light bar and install. I hope this helps.

RIP my wrap

I had the exact same reaction. I wonder if it's possible to secure the panel while leaving the wrap on. Might be wishful thinking.

It is a completely different part they are putting on.
