Does it say anywhere how they are going to fix the problem? Are they going to weld a bolt to the metal and attach to the plastic trim which is bolted to the chassis??
It's a metal carrier, but yeah spot weld stud to stainless where the old carrier had a stud and use a different adhesive.
So stainless will be mechanically fastened to chassis.

I'm hesitant. Mine was born" January 31st so its later production. Unless I'm in service for something else, then I'd say they can go ahead with it. No wraps

Read the recall. It's all trucks, even though they estimate only 1% of those are affected.
I did Read the recall... It says all trucks within a given date range. Trucks built after February 27, 2025 are not affected.

But down on page 4, OOF, it does say that as of 18 March, the condition has not been corrected in production. Tesla anticipates that vehicles in production will begin receiving the remedy on or around March 21, 2025.

So, I stand corrected.

Yeah, weird timing. So did they stop production, or just not put those pieces on after Feb 27th?

Boo. Sucks that I’m going to have to pay to rewrap that part of the truck.
It’s also the part I attach the cybertent to so that could potentially contribute/worsen the matter.
If it was me, I would use the roof rack mount points instead of the trim. I disagree completely with the strap design they come up for the tent lol. Seems like they could have done better.

Silver lining maybe, I think with a recall they have to disclose the total number of vehicles, this might give us a pretty accurate number on how many CTs have been delivered. Estimates of 30-50k would make 46,000 pretty close.
The official recall report says 46,096 CTs, manufactured between November 13, 2023 and February 27, 2025. I would assume that includes CTs manufactured for sale in Canada and Mexico.

Anyway the number seems reasonably consistent with guesstimates based on available data. I threw out the following numbers in a post a month ago:
In 2024, about 39,000 Cybertrucks were sold in the US, according to Cox Automotive estimates. Add a few hundred in 4Q 2023, several thousand so far in 1Q 2025, and a few thousand for Canada. So maybe around 50,000 total
My guesstimate may have been a little too high. It's recently been claimed that Tesla significantly reduced the CT production rate during 1Q 2025. Maybe the recall had something to do with that.

Good news is that this is arguably optional and only rarely occurs. It will be obvious beforehand as it will slowly start to delaminate. No need to rush to replace unless there are signs.

The cantrail is a new replacement part that will be swapped out so wraps will need redone on that part.
