I'm sad we lost the air compressor and tail gate ramp. A bit irritated by the cast aluminum sub frame and glued panels but haven't had any issues yet. The steer by wire is amazing and I'm still very happy with mine 11 months later.

I love my AWD CT because of the advancements to the industry:
  1. 800 Volt, 48 Volt with Ethernet speed bus
  2. Steer by wire and four wheel steering with triple redundancy- no mechanical back up
  3. The “schwing!” Wiper blade katana
  4. 5 ⭐ crash ratings- highest of any truck..ever
  5. Crazy advanced aluminum GIGA castings for efficiency, safety and bad-assiness.
  6. The Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel called HFS “Hard F’in Steel”
  7. The advanced, independent induction motors
  8. The vault with the best Tonneau cover ever designed- (the lack of proper water seal is my next fix)
  9. The interior simplicity echoed the exterior
  10. Air ride/ suspension
  11. The huge interactive screen
  12. The huge windshield
  13. The quiet ride
  14. FSD 13.2.8- I may complain but it is revolutionary
  15. Auto park- this is actually fun
  16. THE ABSOLUTE BEST STEREO EVER PUT IN A VEHICLE!!!
  17. Matches my kitchen appliance set

Three days later…

I still love the truck but was left stranded at a rest stop by Tesla.

Just bad luck, I am on my third tesla, never been stranded, 2018 model 3 performance (that I raced all the time with) for 6.5 years, 3 years going on the model Y and I now have my dec 2024 AWD cybertruck. So far, so good, I loved my model 3 when I ordered it first day in 2016, waited 2.5 years for that one, and my model Y I still love and this cybertruck is an absolute beast of a machine. BTW, who ever said the panels are glued on, thats just the panel over the door, the rest of the panels are all laser welded to the interior structure, everywhere I look - also seen some spot welds in there too, in the center spots, you can see the circles. Not sure why there is an army of people out there that just want to talk massive sht (they have been doing it since 2016 when I first started following tesla closely), when reality is something else entirety, Cybertruck is the most cutting-edge vehicle produced right now. Start taking it apart, and it's obvious, Sandy Munro has a whole group of videos explaining this.

Love Sandy’s videos! Early adopter problems with the CT that I thought washed out with Foundation series are still present in the current gens (Dec 2024 AWD). Oh well. Still the best company and engineers. (But roadside service is a hard hard fail.).

Hmm, I know roadside, I heard, is an issue (and just get the insurance upgrade(with your local insurance company) and use that instead), supply parts is an issue (could be due to the agile hardware methodology, rapid improvement), when someone new walks into a service center, there isn't anyone there to hold your hand, it's pretty rough and different (fine for younger people, but older people generally don't like it, there use to the schmoozing).

There is certain weird outliers that Tesla needs to figure out (maybe they save a lot fo money not doing some of these things...). I am trying to remember the things I have seen in the last 10 years.

There are also things they are outstanding with, Uptime at the superchargers (and fixing them) the vehicles themselves, my last 2 vehicles came with zero defects when delivered, and have been extremely reliable including the truck so far. I buy it for the tech, I love having 2 robots in the driveway, looking forward to having an optimus in the house.

I still cant shut up about them, I have to let others start talking about tesla before I open my mouth so I am not annoying about it. I came here to say I love the truck more than when I reserved it. Same thing happened with my model 3 performance.

Well as I only preordered to shut a buddy up.... I'd say there weren't really any expectations. It was ugly and probably stupid at the time. I thought the cyberpunk presentation was dumb.

Now 5+ years later and owning it.
The tech is pretty impressive.
48V architecture is the future (but accessory limitations now).
The steer by wire actually is surprisingly good.
The stereo is impressive for a stock vehicle.
FSD is (now) working pretty darn well.
It (now) actually off-roads great (see other posts made recently).
The range is just ok (I've travelled a lot).
The aerodynamics requirements of an electric vs gas/diesel is frustrating (primarily shown with towing and large objects in bed).
The cyberbeast is an animal on the road, insane take off, and crazy good maneuverability/cornering for a 7000lb truck on 35" AT tires!
The stainless panels are great for their sturdiness but the attachment is a bit frustrating.

Overall I'm impressed. It does a lot for what it is. Coming from a stick shift pickup truck driver and fairly built up FJ60 off-roader. Also a brother that had a GTR.

All the points about tech and robots and love for the CT I share with you. I just finished 12 hours in the rented RAV4 (on my dime), ½ time spent in constant downpour and lightening. I really miss the CT! I really hope this is just a software glitch! Or at least a specific problem.

Elon said twice that I can find that the HFS, originally said the 30x cold rolled steel was harder than a car key and therefore couldn't be scratched by it.

There were numerous people on this board that repeated the same thing.
It's pretty frickin' hard, isn't it!

Some keys just leave a little bit of their own color on the surface, like writing with a pencil. Owners have reported they were able to wipe it off by hand with a small amount of polishing compound. No actual scratch at all. But not all keys have the same hardness, some have a hard chrome layer that can leave a shallow scratch. Even that can be easily polished out with the same type of abrasive pad that applied the factory OEM satin finish because there are no coatings on the HFS bodywork, it is homogenous all the way through.

My favorite "feature" is the stiff chassis with almost zero twist/flex. Combined with the plush air suspension (compressed nitrogen actually), and the 35" tires, on 20" rims, the ride and driving experience, on or off-road, is a dream.

Almost every time I drive my CB I have an immediate feeling of peace and joy and appreciation. Also, knowing it is the most American made vehicle purchased from the company that has done so well that the gains from the stock paid for the vehicle, makes it even better. Seeing the smiles and excitement on most of the faces of people who stop to admire it is nice too. And for those who are haters I just reply with a thumbs up and a smile and remind myself that you get what you give, so respond with kindness.

Hope and expect that this will be the last ‘new ‘ vehicle I will ever purchase and I’ll leave it to my son who pushed me to buy Tesla stock and to get on the list for the Cybertruck.

Reserved it for the hate others had for it, and 500 miles of range is a lot of Ubers before charge up. The hate has morphed into terrorism and no 500 miles. Overall F*** love it!
Too bad Uber won't let us on their network. :( Lyft lets us drive for them at least.

I'm going to comment on the steer-by-wire again. When I first heard that it was going to be steer-by-wire I immediately thought that they were nerfing the road feel. Then I thought, "well, it is a pickup truck. Handling isn't the primary focus." I mean, how can you feel the connection between the road and your soul with a machine that isn't connected to the road at all?! Then there was the "variable steering" ratio that I thought would subtract for the "performance" feel that I was hoping for in a truck this bad ass.

It pleases me to say, "I couldn't have been more wrong!" I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that the truck would handle THIS well. When I first drove it (and it was trial by fire (another story for another time, I digress)) I was over steering and giving myself "brake checks" through road construction, detours and all of the other fun scenarios in an unfamiliar city during rush hour. It was VERY AWKWARD when I first drove it. I kept trying to look in the rear view mirror, kept having to look at the steering wheel to find the turn signals, kept trying to fiddle with the menu. It was a bit overwhelming (my first Tesla). Oh, and everytime I let off the "gas" I brake checked myself.

Now, I absolutely cannot wait to drive it (other than haters on the road). I have always driven with my left hand on the 12:00 position and my right hand on the stick shifter and that's the habit that I've developed over the years. Now, with the Cybertruck I feel SOOO confident now driving the same way. I hold the squircle in the 12:00 position with my left hand and I can turn as much as I want without doing any hand over hand mumbo jumbo at all. My right hand is free to use the touchscreen or anything else I need to do.
