Yes, but from a UK perspective im let down by it being forbidden to be sold here.

As for the truck itself the biggest let down is price. It was advertised as a no-nonsense work truck with looks which most considered ugly (not me) and was priced at a working class level. Instead, we have a vehicle to gouge money from the rich and give them something to show off.

It now no longer fits as a work truck but also doesn't really fit as a rich man's toy either.

I knew I would get taunted and flipped off when rode around in it. I could picture all the assholes way back 5 years ago. I never anticipated them to become violent and attempt to destroy the vehicle, because its such a mind fuck, but what a special surprise!
Yeah I knew it was asking for some BS to happen but we couldn't predict the level of crazy that it induces in some people. The excessive attention was the only real negative for me.

My 2018 Model 3 is the best commercial product I have ever owned. Tesla has been great to me. Even then, the truck has exceeded my expectations. The styling is provocative (more so at this moment in history), but I mostly knew that going in. Of course, I would have loved the 500 miles of range, but the world dramatically changed between the reveal and the release. Sadly, not at all for the better. I can forgive Tesla for being hobbled due to experiencing some unreal headwinds. The high nickel 4680 and greater range will still get there at some point. 2027?
The state of our human family? I can also understand the difficulties, but it is a serious challenge to try to get in a constant flow state over something so mundane as a car and constantly find it in your heart to forgive and forget. It’s not so much the hate as the stupidity. It hurts. The truck is like a magic wand that shows you some people for the worst of who they can be. So, oddly due to the truck, I am much more disappointed in some of my fellow humans than I otherwise would be. Including some that I am very close to. That has been rough. The truck itself is incredible and unlike almost everything in life, the having is actually better than the wanting. Shout out to Spock. ā€œAmok Timeā€. Come to think of it, having the right to occasionally declare a cyber-kal-if-fee sounds pretty good right now. šŸ˜‚

The range has turned out to be a nothing burger issue so far but I may get the range extender because I have plenty of cargo space.
Unfortunately, the Range Extender has gone MIA. The option to reserve one has been quietly removed from the Cybertruck order page. Apparently just happened within the past week or two.

Then:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" had me sold on a rust proof truck that was light weight and rigid. No worries about scratched paint or salt. Hell, it'd even be phased by moderate damage like stumps, shopping carts, parking lot "door ding gnomes", etc...
  • Glass that broke. Any other truck and you'd be donning that steel ball upside your head.
  • Range was never a huge influence on my reservation, although it sounded nice.
  • The looks of the CT. I'm a fan of function over form so it looked amazing to me. I kinda liked it.
  • The 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. This is my most favorite thing about the initial reveal and the truck as a whole. It's going to be bad ass.
Now:
  • The all stainless "exoskeleton" is a disappointment. It's not a "stressed skin" design but a glued on afterthought to make it all work. Plus, it's attached to a cast aluminum substructure. Galvanic corrosion anyone? I hope it's insulated well.
  • 4 wheel steering. I thought somehow I'd have an option to steer the rear wheels manually. Would be cool for many-a-party tricks plus real world stuff. Still love it though. Never knew they were going to include it but I'm glad that they did.
  • The looks of the CT. I Like it even more now. I think the CT looks good. It looks fast.
  • Range. Range is good enough for me. I'd like more of course, but It's not my biggest concern.
  • The 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. YES!!! OMG, Tesla! You exceeded my expectations! I'm not dissapointed!

There are many other things that I'm happy with that I didn't expect (sound system, steering system, quietness inside, FSD, etc).
There are many other things that I'm NOT happy with that I didn't expect (Tesla hate, EV hate in general, vampire drain (seems better now).

Overall I love my truck. It's got it's quirks but I'll commend it as it's absolutely an amazing handling machine. It's nimble in traffic and WICKED quick. I can do "super human" manuvers that I feel I wouldn't be able to do in any other vehicle.
I agree with everything you said. I would add it needed another year of development and quality assurance testing before they started to sell it. You can’t really say they rushed it to market because it took four years but they’ve obviously missed a few things trying to stuff so much Into the vehicle. And then of course they didn’t do much Consumer testing on it so now they have a problem selling them in the first place. Other than that, it’s pretty cool, lol.

I reserved on the day of unveil b/c it doesn't look like any other pick up trucks. In real life it's too big but my reservation is still intact. I watched both Munro & Caresoft Cybertruck tear down-further amazed the incredible machine. I wish/hope Tesla will produce smaller Cybertruck. Until then just bought the new hat.šŸ’Ŗ

There are probably thousands of people that put the non-refundable deposit down, myself included. If Tesla decides not to make them, as long as they return our deposits I’ll survive. I am quite certain that Tesla will do one (I.e., make the RE) or the other (I.e., return the deposit). I have no idea, nor do I wish to conjecture, what it means that they have removed the option to order one from the web page.

Reserved Immediately after Elon introduced CyberTruck. Now a year in since I took delivery, I wake up in the morning looking forward to riding in my CyberTruck. It brings me joy each and every day. No other vehicle I've ever owned through the decades has provided me with continuous joy and excitement. "007" is the Ultimate Gadget!

The car is amazing and steer by wire has been next-level when it comes to maneuvering in tight parking garages or lots. I rarely punch it so the Beast is likely overkill for me, but I like knowing it’s there. As many have said, it’s by far the best driving vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Today was the cherry on top for me, as we installed another 9.8kW of solar on our roof and had it landed in my PowerShare gateway (instead of the main panel). I can now get benefit from my solar even if the grid goes down as long as the truck is plugged in, and the solar will actually power my house AND change the truck at the same time. Not too shabby at all. That was the biggest missing feature for me, so I truly have no complaints now. How much would 10 power walls have cost?!?!

I watched the 2019 reveal live and reserved in early 2020, so I was with a lot of you following the development of the CT and the building of the factory. It was quite the ride and for me, it served as a beacon of hope through the pandemic. One of my cars is a DeLorean so I was super excited at the possibility of getting an AWD stainless steel truck from the future.
However, I canceled my reservation last week.

I bought a new C8 Corvette Z51. I will likely eventually own a Cybertruck, but not for a while.

I visited a Tesla showroom three times with the proverbial ā€œcash in hand ā€œ but no employee was ever authorized to make the deal I wanted. My wants were within $4K of what they were selling for. Talking to the elusive ā€œmanagerā€œ was impossible.
I tried. I called, I responded to texts. This was futile.

Simultaneously, my multi year search for my dream Corvette yielded a new car in another state. I called, and lo and behold, the car available had exactly the options I wanted. Unlike when the C8 was introduced in 2020 and for a few years since, the dealership was willing to make a deal. No insane markups.
I offered, they countered, and we made a deal on an awesome car for thousands below MSRP.

So, Tesla didn’t get my business even after 5 years of interest mainly because of their ā€take it or leave itā€œ approach. Chevrolet was there in 2020 with the C8. I get it - supply and demand - but I won’t play that game.
I know what I want, and how much I will spend for it. Fortunately for me, I can wait.

The current hate for Tesla is really unfortunate. I feel for you all. Although it wasn’t a main factor in my decision, it definitely helped me to decide to wait on the CT.

This isn’t goodbye, rather see you later. I’ll continue to lurk while enjoying my other dream car:

Overall, I love it and the features outweigh the detractors. IMO, the biggest compromise/disappointment is its overall toughness. Sure it is great it can stop small caliber bullets or even "C4 on the door" but parts flying off, catastrophic hitch failure, bent tailgates, underpanels bent by water puddles, etc really ruin the whole "toughness" aspect. I'm not selling mine and, instead, am fixing all these issues but it will never significantly penetrate the establish truck market until these are addressed from the factory. Trucks need to be able to take abuse.
