Hard to tell in that pic, but it looks like they just screwed it directly to your hardi-plank siding, which will compress it. The pic also shows a rough hole in the siding begging for water intrusion. Water problems may be in your future and for the quotes these installers are throwing around ($500-$1,000/hr.) they should be called back to correctly waterproof their install (if they even know how to properly do it). Sorry, but I'm not happy with how Tesla is not allowing us to choose our own installers who we know do things right and instead forces us into using non-competitive contractors.

That was my first thought as well. I think I already asked him about it. When installing concrete siding they expect you to put a solid wood base and the siding should be cut around it. Just installing directly on the siding is not ideal and I hope they at least used some kind of standoff or spacers that the box pushes against so it's not pushing against the siding.

Yes, I'd much rather they just give me the hardware and then figure out what to do with it. I'm in the middle of trying to get mine installed and it's been months and they don't give you a lot of information. The document they sent me to sign simply said $3,500 for installation. Nothing about what and where. Now it looks like they're adding an entirely new load center in addition to my existing one, not replacing it, with 24 spaces that I need to mount somewhere on the house along with the gateway that I need to mount somewhere on the house and they also specified a 12-space load center to replace the one in the garage, but it's too big and the model they gave me was for an external load center, not an internal flush mount. So it makes me think they're going to mount it on the outside of the garage and cut a hole through the wall when there's plenty of room inside and the garage walls are unfinished. Even though there's various different types of load centers that would fit inside, that should have plenty of room for the four or five breakers needed. I don't need 12 and I don't want another big old box on the outside.

It took repeated requests to find out that they were indeed planning to install this second additional 24 space load center and the gateway on the other side of the door away from the existing panel and we're going to run conduit up over the door and down back and forth between the gateway and the rear general meter enclosure. Again, this wall and doorway are into a utility room that is also currently unfinished and would be really easy to run the conduit inside. They now say they will do that for several hundred dollars more.

They said they are interested in the customer's aesthetics, but it's more like, don't worry, we'll do whatever we want. It'll be great for you. Meanwhile, it's really just whatever is easiest for them with little thought to the end result or what you may want to install later. If they're really interested in a good result, they would let the customer know what they intend to install and where and why. After a few more phone calls and emails I may find out.

16-1/4” X 25-3/4” glass, the box is a bit under 16” x 25-1/2”.

Does look like a huge load center if to scale. But it is not, as the box for the gateway is depicted at about 16” tall based on the 23” dimension lines.

Thanks for the help. I'm surprised you saw that I deleted it right away. I had the wrong world scale in coreldraw. It works for my needs but it's lame that the different pages or tabs in the same file all use the same world scale so I have to keep switching back and forth.

I want to put they around on the side of the house but the 30" NEC Workspace will be an issue. I wish I new why they want to add a second new load center with 24 spaces and they only show using two?
