I have a FS AWD and am considering picking up an oem off-road lightbar. Does anyone know how much a Tesla service center would charge for installation?

I’ve seen the SC reject installing the lightbar if you bought it 2nd hand. Claiming they don’t know where the light bar came from, etc

Has anyone successfully done an installation on a FS AWD with the OEM light bar? I'm curious if the software is any different from the beast and will recognize it.

I gave it serious thought but was ultimately deterred by the $2800 price tag and ended up doing one of the Chinese knockoffs with some tint on it.
No doubt not quite as cool but around $2500 cheaper.
Also have several friends with beasts and this thing is considerably brighter than the oem one if that matters to you.

Speaking first hand on this purchased on eBay. Service Center will not install. Advised even with box sealed they are unable to assist with install. It’s still sitting in my garage. Makes sense now with the bars flying off how would they warranty it if you didn’t purchase from them.

Curious . What did you pay for it on eBay? I tried and fell prey to a scam.

If you are handy, you can DIY it. One of the primers is out of stock in the states, but everything needed can be acquired online.
Windshield repair shop would be familiar with the adhesive as a possible outsource option.
Procedure is at service.tesla.com

Oh no! Did eBay get your money back? That one lightbar on their now has been listed like three times. Or at least the same picture has been listed 3 times.

Still working on that. Expensive items that people know you REALLY want and are hard to get are easy to scam people over.
My advice, if that’s what you really want and are willing to spend the money , go to a reputable third party shop that has Tesla catalog ordering privileges and have them order it for you.
I found one locally that could do it for me for $2500 ($2800 installed) but by then I’d already dumped money into this scam and not wanting to lose two mortgage payment over a lightbar, I just went with the aftermarket one.

How do you find out which shops have Tesla ordering privileges?

In my town (Phoenix) there is a third party Tesla shop called Gruber motors which specializes in Tesla roadsters so I went straight to them. They had previously serviced our old model x when it was out of warranty so I knew for a fact they could order parts, but I think any reputable shop that claims to be able to service teslas should have a business account with Tesla and be able to order it. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me on this can chime in.
I didn’t even attempt to ask the Tesla SC parts desk if they would sell me the part. My car is an AWD. How sure are we that they would care? Has anyone here tried that?

Owners can order a lot of parts through the app via an Other service appointment .

With respect to the install price , they just quoted me their labor rates times the time quoted by Tesla for install.
