Hey all! Another quick review coming your way on the @Wolfbox G900 Pro Series camera.

Just gonna get right into it!

Context
For starters, I always cover context and my particular use-case.
  1. I am an avid off-roader and literally live off-road. Wolfbox knew this before sending me their product to review.
  2. Wolfbox sent me this product to review, free of charge to me, and only asked that I review it honestly and openly. In other words, to their credit, I did not receive any kind of "only if you give it a perfect score," nonsense from them and I gave them plenty of reason to backout--I made it clear that I would be brutally honest about their product and that I would be rough with it, the didn't mind.
  3. I am not normally a "reviewer" in the sense that I seek these products out or attempt to make a business out of it. Please understand: I have no interest in making money or getting views, just wanting to be an active and helpful CT community participant.
  4. Wolfbox approached me and I made it clear to them how I would review it and they were fine with that.

Install
I went ahead and installed the Wolfbox G900 in a bit of a unique way since I didn't really need a second reverse camera or a second dash cam. But to their credit, the Wolfbox cameras are MUCH higher resolution than the built-in cameras on the CT that are designed for FSD use. Instead, I set up the 1080p camera on the undercarriage and I still haven't decided where to put the 4k camera, but I'm excited to find a perfect spot.

After installing it as intended on the rear view mirror, I decided that I preferred it on the dash. This is a personal choice since I find that blocking my view of the dash is better than blocking my view of the road--I've come to really like not having a rearview mirror, I guess.

I installed the monitor on the dash using two magnetic phone mounts. I powered it using an existing 120v->12v converter that I already had installed for my ham radio that is powered on the AC outlet from the center console in the back. I prefer this approach because it's really easy to run wires in the CT, the G900 came with a 12v connection, and I prefer the way the 120vAC system turns on automatically on vehicle entrance (as opposed to the 48v system).

Review
Frankly, the G900 system is great. It did everything and more that I expected of it. Latency is damn near perfect and the image is crystal clear. I really tested this bad boy. I was in the boonies of the St. George desert, Death Valley, and the mountains around Cedar City. Exterior temperatures got to 110F/43C, and the main screen got MUCH hotter than this being on the dash in the direct sun the entire time. No issues and ran perfectly. I really can't think of anything to complain about as it does what it advertises, does it well, and has no bugs that I've been able to find.

I did test both cameras and they worked great, but ultimately I stuck with the 1080p camera under the CT--for now! Looking for creative ideas for the 4k camera that doesn't cover what the vehicle's built-in cameras already cover.

My subjective, personal overall score for this product is a 9/10. I only removed a point because I had to come up with a creative way to adapt it to the CT--dash mount, 120vAC->12vDC converter, etc. However, that may be a little unfair of me since pretty much all products need a little bit of creative adaptations to work on the CT.

What I didn't review/test
  1. How to hook this up to the cabin camera feed was not tested. I know this is popular, I don't want a rear view mirror/screen blocking my view of the road, nor do I want to fiddle with wire tapping a system that clearly isn't meant for pulling more current than it already uses--the power systems designed for accessories are the only ones I used.
  2. I did not attempt to "mount" this to the rear-view mirror as it was designed to do: see #1.
  3. I did not mount the cameras as "intended," see photos.
  4. I did not review or test their customer service, etc. Everything worked fine so I had no need. However, my interactions with Fu from Wolfbox has been nothing but stellar.
  5. The product is great, but I did not review their box... I don't know why people obsess over what the box looks like. It was packed well and safely, beyond that the product is great.

Before installing the G900, I wasn't actually in the market for a camera system like this. But I really like it now. If you're in the market for this kind of thing, I highly recommend it. After testing this product and loving it, I would purchase it on my own dime.

Feel free to ask questions, happy to answer honestly. Also happy to do tests for folks if it's within reason

What's the point of having the camera under the truck, other than rock crawling maybe? It would probably get ripped off the truck in that use anyway. I've been considering getting a digital rear view mirror (More for its intended design use though) as I still can't get used to the rear mirror on the center screen.

Sure, to each their own! But being able to see under the truck is a newer feature in most off-road/overland rigs including the Hummer EV, Canyon AT4X, Tundra, etc.

As to rock crawling usefulness: being able to see under the vehicle is very useful in many situations, certainly including rock crawling. I personally don't do much rock crawling, but what I do use it for regularly is knowing tire placement for extremely deep ruts and jagged sidewall dangers--especially medial tire sidewall threats. This is particularly relevant on a vehicle with rear wheel steering.
On this one extended weekend trip I would estimate that I relied on it heavily to see where my back tires were located and how they were turning on at least 10 occasions.

Thanks for being honest with our product! Glad you like it. Now, how about sharing some off-roading footage recorded by the G900 Tripro?

So do you have the camera on the undercarriage pointing backwards? Is that how you can see the rear wheels?

I see.. So you're still using it for rough terrain just not crawling. Makes sense.

Interested in the dash mount setup. Still struggling for a secure mount for the Hansshow mirror. I thought about using 2 clip in phone mounts as I don't think I want to use double sided tape on the back of the screen...

This is correct! No issues with debris or anything knocking it off, yet. I was concerned, but the glue is quite good.

Look at the spec sheet, it seems the two movable cameras are 1080p and 2.5k. What is the POV angle on these? I have one of the only rear cameras, I could find, that had 100 degrees of view angle. Which is still a bit to much to replace an actual rear camera with.

Thank you. I am familiar with the product but am waiting for them to come out with a 4-channel system and stitched video streams for either LFR or LRR camera feeds.

That's cool. I've often wanted to see the whole undercarriage when just doing some off-roading going over different terrain rocks and ruts. I'd try to mount it in the rear looking forward and it would be great to see on the main screen. Thanks
