With the CT being delivered, why isn’t the CT on the Tesla trip planner? I have a 12/9 order and waiting for VIN. Would like to start seeing where I can go?

This question came up in a another recent thread.

It's true that Tesla's official online Trip Planner has stjll not been updated for the Cybertruck.
And probably no one outside of Tesla knows the reason for sure.

But it seems like there are only two general possibilities, both of which were mentioned in the other thread:

(1) Tesla doesn't want to update the Trip Planner.
One possible answer: Tesla doesn't want curious potential Cybertruck customers to plot road trips, because then they might be disappointed by the number of stops and the associated charging times.
(2) Tesla has forgotten to update the Trip Planner.
You know, companies can be pretty big. It's often that a left hand and a right hand don't talk. And the trips site hasn't ever been on the top of Tesla's priority map.
TL;DR: it's got to be either (1) deliberate, or (2) an oversight. Take your pick.

I would say it's more like #3: Updating the trip planner for the Cybertruck is of lower priority than other tasks - even within the trip planner it needs to have more features for weather, topography, traffic, charger conditions and activity - which just are higher priority than adding a function for the few hundred Cybertrucks that exist today.

For all we know the planner in the trucks is a beta version they're knocking the bugs out while having to build for only a single platform instead of putting it into a wider release in the web and app versions.

The discussions here about the Tesla Trip Planner tend to run at cross purposes, because people have different understandings of what it is actually for.

other tasks .... are higher priority than adding a function for the few hundred Cybertrucks that exist today.
As indicated in the preceding quote, some people assume that Tesla provides the Trip Planner as a service to the owners of Tesla vehicles. In practice, though, most Tesla owners probably use the Trip Planner rarely, or not at all. Why would you need an online Trip Planner, if you already have a Trip Planner in the vehicle itself? It's a free bonus feature, but not a very useful one.

And from that perspective, Tesla's failure to update the Trip Planner for the Cybertruck is no big deal. It's not a particularly valuable service, and it only affects a few hundred people. So why the concern?

Here's why: the Trip Planner is not primarily intended as a service to Tesla owners. It is intended as a service to prospective Tesla owners, who are often completely new to EVs, do not have access to an in-vehicle trip planner, and are afflicted by range anxiety. The online Trip Planner allows them to experiment with the real-world road trip scenarios that they face, like the vacations at the lake or the visits to Grandma, so they can convince themselves (or their spouses) that EVs make sense for their use cases.

Many EV blogs recognized this point when the online Trip Planner was introduced. Like this one:
The company is presenting this as an education tool for prospective Tesla customers who want to learn more about what it would be like to plan a long-distance trip in a Tesla vehicle.
Or this one:
Tesla is removing some of the guesswork for prospective buyers, bringing a new trip-planning tool online to help you map out potential routes.
I would bet that the Trip Planner gets virtually no hits from new Cybertruck owners. But I would also bet that it gets thousands of hits every day from people who don't actually have a Cybertruck, but are curious. Just like the OP:
With the CT being delivered, why isn’t the CT on the Tesla trip planner? I have a 12/9 order and waiting for VIN. Would like to start seeing where I can go?
Or this guy:
but seriously, why hasn't Tesla updated its Trip Planner for CT? Alarming.
Why exactly is it "alarming"? Basically, these people are surprised and disappointed to find that Tesla won't allow them to explore the Cybertruck's road tripping capabilities. What's up with that? Is Tesla trying to hide something?

If we are being brutally honest, the answer could be "yes".

Say it louder for the people in the back. I often point this out as well.

Selecting the MS provides some long round about routing. Selecting M3 provides the shortest and fastest routes. I wonder which way Tesla will go when they add CT to the Go Anywhere site.

Why is it still not on there lol
IT IS TIME TO ADD CT TO THE TRIP PLANNER!

Update: For some reason, the Cybertruck has never been available as an option in Tesla's "Go Anywhere" online trip planner. But now, more than 20 months after the Cybertruck was introduced, Tesla has finally resolved this issue -- by killing the "Go Anywhere" trip planner entirely.

If you try the traditional Go Anywhere | Tesla link, it takes you to the "Find Us" page, which shows Supercharger locations, but does not include route planning. The route planner appears to be gone.

If you are a prospective Cybertruck owner and want to see what a road trip of your choosing would look like, try ABRP instead. ABRP is owned by Rivian, but it works with all EVs, including Teslas. ABRP will provide recommended charging stops, charging times for each stop, and the overall estimated time for the proposed trip.
